People enjoy different kinds of prose. Some people like storytelling that is more straightforward and to-the-point and others enjoy sophisticated wordplay. I like both, depending on my mood. Everybody calm down and just let people read what they want without being a snob (in either direction.)

Yeah, same. As long as there are a few planets with cities dense with interesting things to do, I don’t mind if there are also a lot of mostly-empty places where I can explore and resource gather a bit between quests and answer the occasional distress call and whatnot. I enjoy exploring as long as there is story

It’s definitely still a slow pace through the rest of the game, but the story does pick up and get more interesting. If it’s too slow, just go through the main story and “skip” the side-stories by tapping through them. You won’t miss much. (unfortunately, sometimes the side-stories unlock new characters so you

I loved this fight. I ended up burning two of the three areas and it was oh-so satisfying. It seemed to be a bit ambiguous whether anyone was hurt by this. I chose to believe that the people got out and it was only houses that burned. If the narrative told me that there were people in there, I definitely wouldn’t have.

Nah Fire Emblem’s not really at all like Advance Wars. Fire Emblem’s an RPG. In Advance Wars you can build new units each move and throw them at the enemy without worrying about permadeath. It’s a really different style of game, more about managing money and territory than the characters.

Maybe they could bring it back with a different milieu, like fantasy or sci-fi, that’s more clearly fantastical and not comparable to real-life events. Like, I’ve been playing Wargroove a lot and I doubt they would have a problem releasing a sequel to that right now, for example.

I disagree. If anything I think sales would increase as there’s so much more interest in war lately. I think it’s more about protecting Nintendo’s image.  They hate controversy.

Ten years or so later: Pokemon Infrascarlet and Ultraviolet

The lamp one really gave me the giggles for a bit. It’s just so intense. Well done, sir.

People, Metroidvania is a made-up term without an established definition. Arguing over what counts as a Metroidvania is pointless.

Childish? I mean, sure. But dumb trash talk is way more fun to listen to than polite chatter.

Coolest dentist ever.

Honestly, games on PS4 still look great to my eyes. I never look at a modern AAA game on last-gen and think how outdated it looks. I don’t need to spend $500 to get a few more individually rendered hairs on Kratos’s beard. So I have no big desire for PS5 just yet.

I support IGN’s listing of charities for Palestinian casualties. However, I think it’s important to note that Hamas rockets have killed a dozen people in Israel, including two children, and those casualties are also deserving of support. This should have mentioned as well in IGN’s article. Yes, I’m fully aware that

Yup. The Switch does not feel in any way outdated to me.  I hope they keep it around.  If they do make a new one, I hope it’s 100% backward compatible and that all your games transfer over - because the Switch has one of the best overall libraries off any console and it would suck to re-start from zero.

You ask too many questions. It’s Space Jam! We’re all going to watch it and enjoy it anyway. (even if it is bad)

The names of some of these games are so nuts - it makes me wonder if the names are picked by some bigwigs that barely speak English and no one else has the guts to tell them that they sound very dumb.

I remember being super hyped for this game when it was Dinosaur Planet. Rare had a way of taking Nintendo’s greatest hits and reworking to something as good or even better (e.g. Mario 64 -> Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Kart 64 -> Diddy Kong Racing) and this was going to be their take on Ocarina of Time, one of the best games

You might try them again. I actually thought the Divine Beasts were pretty great - better than Wind Waker’s dungeons IMHO. The puzzle box element makes them interesting - the whole dungeon changes dynamically as you control the beast.  The first time I realized that I was blown away.  However, they’re a bit too simple

That’s fair.  Personally I really liked BOTW’s dungeons but they could have been a little meatier and more varied.
