Forget the off-road stuff, is this a better buy than any other good around-town crossover/small SUV?

What is... I can’t ev.... hurk... *dry heaving for several minutes*
When my rust-addled co-worker David Tracy described the trip he wanted to take with me, he said there was a guy in…
People don’t usually sleep in taxis do they? So all the engineers have to do is make the computers intentionally break all traffic laws, do random, sudden moves, blast horrible music...
1st: I can’t think of a better idea than to put two lay flat seats (ala airline) in a car, set your destination, and have it drive through the night while you get 9+ hrs of sleep. That will sell autonomous cars on it’s own right there. Imagine leaving your house in Nashville, and waking up in Panama City Beach for…
“for sale out of Minneapolis”
Someone needs to do a cost/benefit analysis on expected maintenance costs vs. payments on a newer, lower mileage option. This might be one of those cases where you spend more per year keeping it going than you would in payments on a nicer one.
**Offer also valid in Northeast
He might as well just say “We’ve buried it up to its axles in rock salt for 50% of its life”! It’s rotting at every sill, so that water’s also been collecting and ponding on top of the frame. Outriggers will be gone at the very least…
It doesnt work like that, the frame on these rusts faster then the body- there is a good reason why the seller provided carfax/nada/hagerdy but not a single underbody pick, heck its s tall suv- he wouldn’t even need a lift....
Land cruisers never break, but they rust away to nothing. Range Rovers never rust, but break down constantly. Why not pull the drivetrain and electrical system from a Land Cruiser and install it in a similar vintage Range Rover? It will be called the Range Cruiser, and it will be unstoppable.
Yeah, the fun part is getting all your supplies together, get half-way through stripping a panel, and realize that the other half is literally just dead paint laying on a thin layer of Swiss cheese.
I like it. Without a doubt. BUT......
Problem is that Toyota’s frames also rot, and many times dissolve faster than their bodies do. As bad as the body is on this thing, I would not be surprised if I could go underneath and shove an un-sharpened #2 lead pencil through much of that frame.
I want to NP this so bad. These were awesome vehicles in their day. Still, the tin worm is well entrenched and anyone who has been around Japanese vehicles back then knows how quickly this progresses once it’s going. I want to NP it, but can’t as by the time you get the cancer out, you will simply be better off…
50mpg? What car did this? The proverbial Geo Metro? Without airbags and all sorts of fancy nanny-state safety equipment, or AC, or heated seats. And a 0-60 time of about 14 seconds. And the cars that got that mileage were tiny, which takes us back to the problem today—no one wants small cars.
Chicken tax
So auto makers won’t do it because there is no money in it? and 3rd party won’t do it either as there aren’t enough electric cars out there, but one of the reasons for not enough electric cars is range, due to lack of charge up stations, which causes car companies not to invest in them as hard core as is needed to…
The throttle alone really wasn’t the problem; it was his terrible modulation of the clutch.
I wont lie, the ATRAC in the Taco is amazing and 90% of the time I wish I had it instead of a front locker.
