Some people swear by it, but a lot of people hate it. Field Roast’s Celebration Roast and the Gardein Holiday Roast seem to be the two favorites (I’ve been asking around), but they have no shortage of haters either. I suspect one of the major factors is how long it’s been since you ate real meat.

I’m a professional copy editor, and I’m still irked by pointless grammar pedantry online. There are definitely things worth being pedantic about — errors that change the intended meaning, for instance — but for the most part it just isn’t that important.

You have to love a jury that decides it’s perfectly acceptable for a man to murder to his wife but draws the line at child endangerment.

I wonder how well it would work if you omitted the turkey. I know that’s blasphemous from a traditional Thanksgiving POV, but some of us vegetarians still love all the trimmings, and this sounds amazing.

I’m not a fan of gin either, and while I agree that it would probably work well in this drink, I’m not willing to buy a bottle to find out. So I think I’ll try it with vodka instead.

You have to love the contrast.

I took an editing test at a temp/contract agency a few years ago, and the automatic program docked me points for removing the hyphen after an “ly” adverb— it was marked an unnecessary change. Bastards.

Further suggestions, based on things that try my copy editor soul:

The use of “nice guys” as a pejorative has nothing to do with men who are actually nice. It has to do with men who have a great deal of anger toward women because those bitches won’t automatically give them the sex they feel they’re owed as a reward for their “niceness.” Men who treat women halfway decently only…
