I couldn’t get out to the one theatre that was playing it, so I caught up with it on streaming, also not knowing much about it. My wife remarking, “Oh, she looks just like her!” when Maxine was looking at Pearl’s photo prompted me to look it up mid-movie. I never would've guessed. 

I’m jealous that you got to see it in IMAX, sincerely.

I’m slowly coming to grips with the fact that I kind of love Michael Bay’s flop Ambulance despite disliking every other Michael Bay movie I’ve seen (yes, including The Rock, stop talking to me about The Rock, and no, that doesn’t mean talk to me about Pain & Gain instead). Truly you guys are doing a terrible job of running that cabal if people can just say horrible things about Jews and then keep working. Also the whole thing about sexy Jews only being played by gentiles. Gotta table that one for the next meeting. 

I like all the people involved, but that trailer didn’t really increase my interest the way the teaser did.

I mean, my point was more the “wouldn’t you want more than clearing the extremely low bar of fan service and your kid liking it” than “the movie should do for the genre what Super Mario 64 did for 3D platformers”, you know? I want the movie to be actually good beyond references to the thing and kids liking it, because…

The fucking 6th movie in the Shrek Cinematic Universe... who could've thought?

This review sounds pretty underwhelmed for what turned out to be a B score. I was holding out hope for it being unexpectedly really good, but I guess I’m chasing the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish dragon.

It doesn’t need to be anymore than that much like Mario games themselves.

Anyway, if someone told me they were casting Adam Driver to play the young version of me, it would send me into an absolute crisis about how I’ve apparently been ugly all this time and no one said anything.
