It’s just a color name, and it’s a good color. The issues you bring up have merit generally, but you’re stretching in this case.

Incorrect:
Not sure how serious or facetious you’re being, but the whole point is to expand their appeal beyond hard-core GM loyalists.
The “First-ever” BMW 4 Series made me laugh. They literally renamed a product line.
My curmudgeonly instinct is telling me this is a perfect example of GM phoning it in. While there’s a lot to like in certain individual details, the whole thing as a package is obviously lacking. Holistically, it’s simply not competitive. Looking at the pictures and reading the descriptions, I can only wonder how GM…
Except it’s not. You could get an SRX with a third row in 2009.
first-ever
The ATS handled better than a 3 Series and it got a ton of praise for it, but it wasn’t as good of a car overall. The interior was much much worse, the engines just weren’t as good, and the overall features/options were lagging. Yes, the chassis was really good, but as a whole, it couldn’t beat the 3 Series; I mean I…
Are... are they just fucking with us?
Palate cleanser:
The average new car price this year is about $37k. Average price for an EV is about $55k. I’m not sure how this isn’t“people’s car” pricing.
My bet is that they’re in the oil business. Rarely do you see an employee at any level driving a car in the dino juice industry
I was expecting a Bentley name drop at the very least.
Because using an existing type 1 chassis eliminates the need to meet modern safety standards. This will probably be much, much lighter (and far more of a deathtrap) than a whole new car.
This is a really weird comment.
The old antenna-in-the-windshield on our ‘80 Cutlass was AWFUL.
I live about 15 miles from the Tesla plant. Its in operation 24/7, 365 days a year and so far has produced over 750,000 cars. There are actual people working there too. So pray- tell me why its not a “real” company? Its more of a “real” company than Porsche, which makes cars for douchebags and now shows us a 200k car…
I think both of you are correct, with maybe Torch having a (cynical yet probably realistic) slight edge. I mentioned this on the original Taycan post.. but if I’m making $250k a year.. then that extra $70k for (on paper) less performance and way less range matters to me. If I’m making $2.5M a year.. then I’m buying…
