Totally but you have to think beyond the physical product. You see the prices on those Buick Grand National/GNXs on Bring a Trailer? Are they nice? No, it’s shitty 80s GM plastic. But they are rare and interesting. Same for the 500E, it’s rare and has an interesting story. And at least the craftsmanship and features

They must have very high mileage or need a lot of work. Well-kept ones go for wayyy more than that

W126 S class?

That is an awesome anecdote - thanks for sharing! What a different time, can you imagine MB commissioning Porsche to help out with engine-stuffing these days?

It’s cool, his dad doesn’t have a Corvette so there’s no way to dis it. I mean, maybe he does, but we can’t glean that from the information above.

We really do need to get rid of huge wheels/no sidewall on EVERYTHING.

Now playing

You need to look into the W126 S-Class’ town and country horn

Given that they have a 3GT and a 4GC, the 6GT shouldn’t exist. Goddamn they suck so much these days

You forgot one - the Isuzu Ascender! Still can’t believe how many badges had a variant of that platform. What a joke.

Mr. DeMuro’s M.O. is a simple one–he finds and explains the most interesting elements of cool any car.

That is a crazy story but how nice that you have something in your possession that your dad wanted enough to buy.

This is awesome.  My forever car is a 2003 540i M Sport but I have a feeling in the future I will have a second forever car and it’ll be a W126.  I love this generation of Mercedes.

I hope you attend a Redwood with this bad boy

If you think of the Model Y as the Model 3 Cross-Country it makes a bit more sense. Lol

That may be true but the recently announced XT6 is not world-class.  I’m pulling for Cadillac, I really am, but that was a major disappointment.

I can’t tell if the huge rear facing car seat is only some models or if they are all like that because of laws. I don’t have kids (yet) so I’m not into that world now but I have friends who have kids and their car seats are ENORMOUS. I can’t tell if they’re big because they wanted a bougie seat or if that’s a standard

Ugh don’t do this to me. The SS isn’t even ‘old’ but the more removed we get from it, the better I think it looks, and I thought it looked great to begin with.

It’s all good until you focus on the ‘reliable’ part of the guy’s ask... there is no way the Jag is reliable. Reliability wise he’d be better off with the Porsche.

This is infuriating. Why are they so focused on redoing their badging all the time when they should be focused on making products that are compelling on a global level? They are so lost.
