Based on percentage share of population, the shocking thing about the demographics of the NYC gifted and talented program is really the percentage of Asians — they represent less than 10% of the NYC population and are more than 40% of these programs. White representation is actually lower than white population share

So...stealing money from people is totally fine, as long as you’re gay and the people you’re stealing from are Christian.

But if your premise is that he needed to “boot lick” to keep his job, then why would he then publicly talk about supporting the protests, the right to protest, and then explain why it was so close to his own experience? I think it’s fucked up to level these criticisms at a guy who grew up the way he did. Instead, you

Nah, we need to stop conflating knowledge and intelligence, which is all too common, and frankly, smacks of typical, aloof elitism trussed up as a progressive sentiment — by saying that “all poor people need is more money” you completely elide the lack of education and services that contribute to vulnerability. I probably took it too far. I can get bogged down in detail. You get the bigger person award. And for the record, I agree with your overall point.

No, again, I am responding to YOUR statement which is that social justice and business don’t mix. I don’t think that the details of what Jay-Z and Kaep are doing are the same. And seriously, I think I made it clear that Kaep’s motivations are separate from the money.

You love putting words in my mouth, trying to make it sound like I’ve made an absolutist claim when I haven’t — not sure why you’re fixated on boxing me in, but hey, whatever man.

Not necessarily black, but yea, them too.

Certainly, it did happen and continues to happen. But population genetics make it quite clear that the people of North Africa

You’re 100% right, but people say ridiculous things when they are pissed off and at the edge of physical confrontation. Your mind isn’t working the same. Of course it’s silly to try and say the two slurs are even remotely the same, but I don’t think Cuomo was thinking critically in that moment, especially if his

Worth pointing out that “Moors” is an outdated catchall word used by Europeans to characterize the primarily Arab and Berber invaders that the began to encounter in the 8th century.

I do not disagree with that sentiment, but I don’t agree that those cities fall into the Middle America classification that you laid out above.

I am not convinced that the article is misleading vs. just underdeveloped. The comments though dispute the characterization of Middle America in the article.

Right, but it’s not suburban and rural areas that are driving the murder rate among black folks in Missouri. So either “Middle America” is the wrong term, or the writer believes that major urban centers - St. Louis and KC - fit within that designation.
