The article either goes out of its way to focus on the state generally in order to make a political point (or something?) or simply fails to recognize that two cities are driving almost all of the murders in the black community within the state.

Wait...the commenter says that “Middle America” doesn’t include cities and those who live in them.

The formulation of what constitutes Middle America in most political discourse is correct. It’s just wrong within the parameters of this article, which focuses too generally on the state vs. the two cities driving the problem.

Not in this article, which says that “Middle America...specifically Missouri” has the highest murder rate for black Americans. As everyone knows - and the article sort of notes - the high murder rate among blacks in Missouri is driven by KC, St. Louis, and the urban areas surrounding them, not small towns and rural

I might be behind the coverage

Exactly.

Good post

“As anyone who has ever consumed anything at a Hooters will tell you—no one really goes for nourishment. And if they say they’re in it for the wings, don’t believe them.”

Lol, that’s the takeaway you got from this?

I am guessing you didn’t bother to look at the people who are helping her out? Or else you just decided to let your own projected prejudice be the story, facts on the ground be damned.

Zendaya is quickly entering the stratosphere of acting talent. She stole the show in Spider Man - no mean feat, considering Holland does a great job himself - and she’s allowed to show so much more range and depth in Euphoria. I hope she continues to get these opportunities to showcase.

This is a pointless fight. The people here will give Ilhan Omar a pass (and, indeed, a vociferously over-stated defense) for constantly evading and equivocating on the issue of FGM  - even when she’s rudely dismissive of a progressive, Muslim, WOC questioning her at a convention that focuses on issues facing the

The problem is that there’s no connection between the beliefs he’s espoused online and the people he targeted. This is not the case with the El Paso shooter.

A cursory reading of every declaration of secession, or hell, the Cornerstone Speech, will quickly disabuse you of this idiotic sentiment, unless you are, in fact, an idiot.

Your first paragraph both dramatically misinterprets what I said and attempts to put my argument within the wrong box. Never did I argue that those civilizations were not part of Europe. They were, however, at the very edges of the European landmass, so using them as stand-in for the continent itself is disingenuous.

Also, this isn’t exactly a response that inspires confidence from activists:

It’s absolutely insane.

It’s not about knowing her record. Come on now. This is a policy and issues conference focused on the Muslim community. This is where activists look for politicians to publicly take a stand on issues that impact that community. FGM disproportionately affects Muslim women and girls, and beyond that, women and girls in
