One stark example I can think of is the Bohr model of the atom that they still teach in elementary school. It's not at all how electrons form in atoms, but it's a useful introduction when the alternatives involve quantum mechanics.

Agreed,It would've been great. I mean its not like there would've been a giant uproar for those two unlike a Superman and Batman. A Emperor Aquaman and a WW and her Furies is the edgier change that they both should've kept in the new 52.
Hal Jordan is, was & always will be a boring character. No matter how much they dress him up with alcoholism and angst and whatever. Kyle Rayner was a much more fun character to read about than Hal ever was. An artist with a power ring. Aside from the stupid metallic mask, this guy was close to perfect.
Tuvix was somehow worse than Neelix. The solution to Neelix was to shove him out an airlock, not keep Tuvix around.
