Same, I’m in a major metro area in California and those around me (I’m also in my 30's) apparently have had parental help with their home purchases. It’s very apparent the effect of ageneration of wealth” can have in these cases. And by no means are we talking about dynasty or old money families either, they just hav

If you haven’t already seen it, I highly recommend the documentary I.O.U.S.A.

Now playing

I highly recommend the documentary I.O.U.S.A. It’s a little out of date by now, but still breaks down the basics and the allows for a better grasp of things.

I wondered about the same thing. Maybe the rules for selling debt in Canada are a lot different than in the U.S.? Maybe it would have taken too long to make it worth it? I’m seriously curious about the math that someone came up with.

Also one of my favorites. Especially when you hear stories like how an early test pilot flying one of the world’s first jets did it in a gorilla suit so people would think they were crazy for seeing a plane flying without a propeller!

You’re absolutely right, and personally I don’t think any seat at Davies Symphony Hall is really all that bad. Anytime they have fun family friendly tie in is a must see (Star Wars A New Hope in concert? Yes, please!). I was just posting up a free lesser known alternative to a well known symphony.

While not the San Francisco Symphony, I highly recommend people in the area enjoy the Golden Gate Park Band http://goldengateparkband.org/concerts/ in the wonderful outdoors. Their concerts are short but their selections are so wide ranging and enjoyable. The Music Concourse where they play often sits right between

The first half of this write-up reminded me of an old school news reel or an emergency broadcast alert. Nicely done!

Can anyone speak to the workaholic culture of Japan and whether a lack of free time affects things like this? I’m kind of curious.

No joke on this. I live in a major metropolitan area where I can still manage the rent. I’ve had three or so “backup-whelp-guess-I-can’t-manage-here-anymore-time-to-move” cities and just about all of them are going catch up or about to surpass where I am soon in rent. Not long ago you couldn’t pay people to move to

Same, along with Lucio’s Jazzy skin. What does the regular Lucio beats sound like again? I don’t even remember...

Former customer here too as well. Screwed up the pick up for my order for which the restaurant was apologetic and literally said was on the counter. Promised that they would talk to grubhub to make it right. Grubhub said they have no drivers available to go fix their mistake so they’ll refund that portion of the meal

I actually take comfort in that. It’s great that people have a fav and don’t care if it’s recognized beyond the closest of fans.

I miss Crimson Skies...

Never ridden DC Metro or MARC but that’s kind of scary with the comparison. CalTrain is impressively on time and moderately comfortable but I practically have to put myself in a meditative state to get through the BART experience.

Literal overseas novice here that’s been thinking about heading to Spain in September for his first trip ever abroad. Why is August bad and is September late enough to avoid the badness?

That’s fair.

I would add not to waste your time on the Cable Cars. The first location on market street especially. You’ll wait in line for a lot of nothing and if you really want a Cable Car ride, pick just about any stop along the route, it’ll be easier to get on.

Your local California library website should have it’s own NYT portal now as well. The San Francisco Public Library (I checked it as soon as I heard) has it’s link under it’s eMagazines section.

Damn them, damn their ego, damn the people who made them and the ego of those people too. Jerks are gonna be jerks whether you have fun so my suggestion, as long as you’re not hurting anyone, is to just have fun.
