I would definitely go the foreign language route.

Congrats! I’m working up the nerve for my first international trip next year
 (not counting one I apparently was on with my parents when I was 4 or 5 evidently and don’t remember). Last year I visited New York City on my own (it’s cross country for me) and it honestly went far more well than I expected.

Hello fellow hermit! I’m almost one at this point given friends with kids and odd employment schedules.

As someone who often plans things for the group, sometimes reluctantly, the frustration of the no-alternative veto is familiar. Accommodating my friends with kids or those with dietary restrictions or odd employment schedules takes some work so I am one who would greatly appreciate alternative ideas.

Although Netflix was wonderful at getting people interested in the Great British Baking Show (*cough* Bake-Off), I highly recommend, if you can, to support your local PBS station with a membership and getting access to PBS Passport.
