I used arguably the most iconic, popular, and enduring video game of all time. Comparable puzzle games which have no meaningful narrative are still incredibly successful (especially on the mobile platforms, AFAIK) to this day.

Nor did I say that my argument was based to pointing to a picture of a freshman wearing a tongue-in-cheek T-shirt…

So you're saying the narrative to Tetris is vital? Or you're saying that Tetris isn't art?

I may have countered a point you didn't make; but the point I *did* counter was the only one which could've been inferred from your response to the dialogue you were adding to.

I really want to say "no true scotsman"; but I actually agree with you. Unfortunately I think you're not going to come along with me for the ride and follow that qualification to its reciprocal conclusion:

The blocks in Tetris have no characterisation to speak of; the game has no narrative. It is one of the most acclaimed games of all time.

And this is why it's impossible to have a mature discussion on this topic…

So you're being dismissive of a post you didn't even read? What do we call it when you pre-judge something based on a superficial aspect of it?

Video games can certainly be lazy (check the Bioware RPG cliché chart for non-gendered examples) when it comes to writing; but they aren't films, books, TV shows.

Look in the mirror? Tell your niece that her aunt is more interested in labelling strangers on the Internet than furthering the cause of equality…

Whereas there's tons of evidence that some unspecified GGer's claims that they were targeted for harassment were faked?

I assume that was you rolling your eyes? The schisms in various strands of feminist thought is a matter of historical record - and that infighting can often be incredibly vitriolic.

No, it's just the extremists of both sides. There's plenty of reasonable people on both sides with moderate views who are entirely correct in so far as their opinions lie. Unfortunately, you, specifically, are not one of them.

It's not generous, it's an unfortunate pre-requisite of posting on this topic. Because people like yourself equate dissenting opinion to being part of some nebulous misogynistic conspiracy, all being rallied under a twitter hashtag.

Nonsense. The women being strippers is entirely coincidental to the body-hiding mechanic. The mechanic pre-dates the inclusion of strippers into the franchise. If the women were specifically immune or spared from having their bodies hidden, THAT would be sexist.

From the commentary surrounding it, it seemed pretty funny. So I'd suppose the "interest" is the same reason anyone posts to the AV Club comment section - entertainment.

Ugh, this old chestnut.

I prefer the term "egalitarian".

I'm guessing way more than the people who recorded the Lets Plays she uses in her videos?

Lots of minor youtube personalities get death-threats irrespective of their gender, but don't become mainstream news for it.
