Honestly, this is where the democrats should take a page from the Trump playbook *shudder* and just focus on the ideals you want to see (worry about the details of whether it can get passed after you are elected). The people clearly prefer an aspirational candidate. They want vision.

I don’t give a damn what you call yourself. I care about whether you’re actually going to fight for the things that matter. If you’re coming out of the gate immediately telling me the things you don’t intend on fighting for, my vote is going somewhere else.

These candidates really need to stop allowing the conservatives to define “Liberal” and “Socialism” as evils. As long as they keep letting Trump and his ilk control the conversation on these aspects of the left, they’re going to be stuck in this kind of awkward position where no one is particularly pleased with them.

that’s true, don’t run for an emergency exit that has a big chain across it, but also if you see an exit with a chain across it, contact the local fire department (if possible) and report it , you could save many lives.

I’ve been in a couple of near-stampede situations and my strategy has been to do the opposite of what the mob is doing, on the theory that they’re a more immediate danger to me than whatever is causing the stampede.
