What’s happening right now is unbelievable. Even recognizing how much Democrats can fuck things up, I never would have thought they could fuck up just passing one of the most popular pieces of major legislation in my lifetime (over 75% support overall, 59% OF REPUBLICANS support it) while Republicans are over there

I imagine that they want to finally be able to tell their side of their own story without being muzzled by Royal protocol. And far, far more people will watch/hear that story via an interview with Oprah than via any newspaper article.

Um...it’s a primetime interview. With Oprah. When you have a business (or more) to promote, a ton of malicious bad press, and an entire media ecosystem heavily invested in your downfall, you need a life profile appearance like this to even the playing field. You need to make sure your appearance is more prominent than

They hated the way the British press treated Meghan. Rampant racism, calling her a gold digger, etc.

My 25 year old niece just celebrated her 18 month soberversary. Her trouble started when she was raped at age 13 and she’s survived many suicide attempts, sex work and every drug known to humankind being put into her body. I wish you could see her now, shiny hair, clear eyes, and planning her future. Thanks for

I'm really happy for John Mulaney. I like hearing about people getting sober.

I remember a recent letter over at Slate where a woman described her lifelong battle with undiagnosed ADHD and how she, as a girl, never “caused trouble” in the stereotypical way, so she never got noticed. The one time she did see a doctor, he dismissed the idea because she had an advanced degree and thus “couldn’t”

In one of the anecdotes in Reviving Ophelia, a teenage girl talked about how her male therapist wrote off her depression and didn’t think sexism and misogyny were relevant to her life. He wrote her off as lazy for not wanting to get out of bed and go to school instead of, you know, finding out why like a therapist is

FWIW, Linda Kay Klein’s “Pure” is a great book in a similar vein focused on the experiences of adolescent women in Evangelical communities.

I’ve literally never heard of this book because I was raised evangelical and my parents only cared about Christian parenting resources, but this struck me:

Or, *or* men could try harder? Put a little effort in? Maybe?

Logically I know that, but you know how your brain can do tricky things when it comes to self esteem.   Just another thing I have to work on improving..

Your comment is funny.

Guess Scarlett Johansson wasn’t available.

“Be more judicial in your sexual partners. Find a man who demonstrates genuine care for you BEFORE sleeping with him.”

Sorry, are we, on a supposedly sex positive website, now saying women should only sleep with people they have long term interactions with?

Love when women talk about negative experiences they’ve had with men and people respond that they should ‘pick more carefully’ :/

That’s called victim blaming, and it’s not women’s responsibility to ‘be more careful’ when the problem is with society and how people are trained to view and approach sex.

Whoooooosh....

And I’m telling you just because they hold the door for me or whatever doesn’t mean they know or care whether my clit is. It’s not about that at all.
