This is one of those really cool ideas that my gut says “yeah, that would be cool and useful” but my brain says “how in the fuck would this be useful?  this is stupid”.

Exactly. It also buys into the regressive assumption that a female pop star’s male producer is responsible for the quality of her work. Usually it cuts the other way with the producer getting credit for successes, but “it’s Jack Antonoff’s fault these pop albums aren’t good” is just as crummy.

I think most of his stuff is good (with individual moments pushing greatness) but To Pimp A Butterfly is probably the best album released in the last 20 years (and that’s coming from a 50 year old music snob).  It’s an album that really needs to be listened to all the way through like albums used to be made
