People seem unable to process that their pal is abusive, because he never abused them.

I believe it, and it’s so saddening. I don’t loathe Johnny (or any of the people in my life that I mentioned) for what they do/have done when they’re under the influence. It’s not an excuse, but it is very sad that otherwise great people can turn into monsters under those circumstances.
I used to work for a DV shelter where I answered the hotline, and like, yeah, I’m sure I wouldn’t have gotten in trouble at all if I was like, “Well, your spouse isn’t physically abusing you, he’s just intimidating you, but that’s not violence, so this isn’t the hotline for you.” /s
You do understand that emotional abuse is considered domestic abuse, right? It isn’t domestic violence, but it is possible for someone to emotionally abuse one person and physically abuse another. I have seen it first hand.
I’ve known enough addicts that I would bet what little I own that this is the case. Everyone who’s only known my brother when he’s clean thinks he’s just the nicest and most friendly guy, and he is. Everyone who’s known him when he’s using knows what a nasty sonofabitch he can be, to the point where family members…
i have a feeling all the people who know him as ‘sweet and gentle’ know sober johnny depp. like i can believe he was never violent with vanessa and when not drinking and drugging he is a good person. but he spent his whole relationship with amber fucked up and was probably a completely different and terrible person…
Yeah, people are really glossing over the fact that Elizabeth DID previously co-sign a letter asking Hillary to run for president in this election because she thinks she’s, in Warren’s words “terrific.” There’s plenty of evidence out there that she may well legitimately think Hiliary is a great candidate. Any…
Sorry, anecdote is not evidence. The data shows that every single state with large minority populations has gone for Hillary. Minorities of all ages are supporting her, though it may not seem like it from your Twitter feed. Are there people of color who supported Bernie? Of course. Just like there are people of color…
Except women of color support Hillary. Why is everyone forgetting that? Why is everyone forgetting that we not all live in Brooklyn and the blacks and Chicanos from the south are overwhelmingly for Hillary? Why am I shouting into a void????
Sshhh. My moral purity demands that current politicians go back in time and vote with today’s constituency, not the popular beliefs of the time in which they were voting!! How dare you remind me of facts!!
Chrissy Teigen, yes. Keep being amazing.
The troll forgets that for millions of undocumented people in this country Trump means repression. Is he not really planning to deport them? It doesn't even matter if he is not. The damage is done. People are attacking Latinos all over the country. The damage is done and we have to contain it.
It’s the narrative they wish existed, instead of the narrative that actually exists. It’s easy to cherry pick people of different races from both sides to support your argument, but it falls apart when you look at the actual statistics.
I didn’t expect to be THIS excited about having a female nominee. But I’m pretty fucking excited. Can you guys imagine if she wins? If Hillary wins, that means, in 2020, all children who are under the age of 12 will have ONLY ever lived in a time when their president was a either 1) a woman or 2) a black man. That…
I’m not sure I fully understand the tone of this piece. Hillary won because of the POC vote, that’s just a fact. Bernie won with young, white voters. I’m not saying Hillary has a perfect history with african-americans but it’s inaccurate to say that POC are not voting for her or are not enthusiastic about her. Or is…
This is super hilarious, because “I guess I’m with” is the majority of people the majority of elections.
her difficulty discussing that past support for racist “anti-crime” policies with young voters today.
if you actually looked it up, you’d know she worked on the committee to impeach Nixon, not for Nixon, genius.
I keep thinking, if you don’t understand why this is important, you’ve never been one of two women in your PhD class of 15. Or one of three women in your cohort at work. Or though, maybe I’d want to do this in my career, and then remembered that 90% of people in that position are men. I cried the whole train ride home…
