This is a complete tangent, but the idea of somebody (presumably Bowser, I guess?) shooting a cat to punish Mario for his lack of thoroughness reminded me of one of my favorite koans in the Zen literature:

All this for a game that’s never even going to come out. Destroying lives for a grift to line a few people’s pockets. A hideously perfect microcosm of late stage capitalism.
Why is it notable that the creator is not a TERF? I operate on the assumption that most media I consume is not created by TERFs unless given reason to believe otherwise.
I absolutely agree with the sentiment of this article (and I find the passage about the transition from pre-ordered to Fan particularly insightful), but I feel like it does omit a fairly important element of the state of game reviews: the ones that still have scores are very much scored on a curve. To be clear, it’s…
By all accounts, Immortals Fenyx Rising, despite having one of the worst titles in gaming history, is quite good and has a fun and interesting open world. I haven’t played it myself yet, but the folks at Rock, Paper, Shotgun, whose opinions I respect greatly and tend to align with my own, have written of it adoringly.
X-box literally has three Yakuza games on game pass and the new one as a timed exclusive.
Achewood doesn’t get nearly enough love or recognition.
Damn dude, good call.
What’s a total novel? Never heard the expression before and google isn’t helping.
I still can’t believe that Adam Sandler didn’t even get a nomination for what was hands down my favorite performance of the year. I figured he was a shoe-in for Best Actor.
Don’t forget Let the Right One In, which Hollywood managed to transform from the most beautiful, lyrical vampire movie ever made into utterly forgettable dreck.
How are you liking Song of Achilles? I loved it, possibly even more than Circe, which I adored as well.
He was excellent in The Beach Bum. Although to be fair I’m not sure how much he was really acting.
I really want to know what the “deliciously mean-spirited exception, which we won’t give away here but was met with audible disapproval at The A.V. Club’s screening of the film” is, but not enough to go see this, can someone spoil it for me?
Geralt gets bathed ahead of his audience with Emperor Tywin.
My unorthodox party game recommendation is Baba Is You. While technically a single player puzzle game, it’s shockingly fun to play with others. The puzzles are so insanely creative, with so many different ways of approaching them, that it’s fascinating to see how other people approach them. My girlfriend and I have…
Yeah definitely a pit bull type.
Yes and now they’ll be able to make games with the budgets they deserve and not rely on the fickleness of crowdfunding, and the resulting games will be available on game pass on release day, giving them a huge built in audience, the absolute horror!
As a wannabe detective, I’m inclined to agree with you. However, as someone invested in the world and the pathos of its characters, I was pretty satisfied with the ending.
Man, I love Twin Peaks, but it is very frequently exhausting. Anything with James comes to mind. Hell, the vast majority of season 2 is a slog.
