Turbo lag absolutely still exists.  Take the performance figures for any turbocharged vehicle and look at the huge disparity in acceleration times between 0-60 and 5-60 mph.  Which is not to say that what you describe above can’t help.  But turbo lag is absolutely still there.

Ah good to know. That was the trick I used on my parents 1996 Volvo 850 (to get the headlights to turn off). Since it was a “pioneer” of DRLs (for the US) people would continually ask me if I knew the headlights were on.

Amen, what a joke.

What’s the definition for luxury car maker?  Just someone that sells expensive cars?  Or does build quality and interior quality come into play?

The blame goes almost 100% to mpg regulations in the US that give CUVs a pass.  Automakers have been steering people away from wagons for decades.

I like to think of DRLs as idiot lights.

In most cars if you turn on your parking lights it will turn off your DRL’s.

It’s not always easy for some drivers to tell if their headlights are on. Many models have bright daytime running lights. Couple that with an always illuminated instrument cluster that may only have a tiny indicator for the headlights, and you have a recipe for people driving around without their lights on.”

Maybe I was just numb to the experience after 15+ years, but the interior of my GS-R wasn’t an inviting environment for getting sleepy.  Aftermarket exhaust & 4000+ rpm engine speed when cruising down the interstate :-D  (also don’t forget the 20+ year old window seals, ugh).

Please tell me how it’s punishment.

Today we’re going to look at a car from a company that has (probably) never wanted to sell the most cars, but at one time was determined to sell what it considered to be the best cars.”

LMAO.  and also, why?  Do you have a hard on for heavy vehicles?

Looks much better to me than most cars sold today.

So losing a bonus you previously had is called punishment.  Okay got it.  Love the way you weirdos spin things to suit your agenda.

Until the last 5-6 years was it really “so hard” to find manuals?  Just exercise patience.  As someone that’s spent 95% of his driving since 1999 with manuals only, it doesn’t appear that difficult to me.

I get sleepy and tired in my manual cars all the time.  Shit happens man.

How many auto only drivers know what engine braking is?  My guess is maybe 5%. That’s part of “knowing” how to drive.

Most people don’t learn how to drive properly, so yeah they won’t know how to look ahead and coast when appropriate, engine brake, etc etc.

It’s a pain in the ass in traffic because you’re likely to be behind some shithead in an SUV that constantly taps the brakes for no reason.  You can’t just drag behind them idling in 1st gear because you don’t know if they’re braking for a reason or not.  For this reason, if its up to me, if I’m in traffic I make sure

Or his cheap ass could have replaced the $50 starter, lol.
