That seems pretty weird to me, in that if you pass your driving test in the UK with a manual you should be qualified to drive an auto as well. The talent flows one way.

I was replying to the Canadian, haha. But yes, quite right.

Or just hold drivers to a higher standard and punish them if they violate it.

He’d feel right at home with the high gasoline prices, that’s for sure.

Well the science says at this point you can only mitigate the changes. So who’s denying now? The people behind all this are hypocrites, regardless of your (your personal) beliefs on the issue.

And that’s all you need to know to see this is all completely horseshit.

Hmm, the government there taxes the sh*t out of gasoline, then does something crazy like pay for roughly 50% of the cost of new EVs for consumers...no kidding EVs sell well there! It’s also incredibly stupid.

Far better off replacing existing power plants with nuclear...and just end this ridiculous charade.

(its because they still suck).

Yes I’m sure everyone is quite terrified of cold like symptoms.

You know they could just slap severe restrictions on light duty trucks, and get rid of the bullshit CUV loop holes, but no let’s do some meaningless crap instead.  So glad you’re excited Erik (might want to try getting out more).

Your argument applies to other cars, that ones that don’t have 75-85% of their sales coming with manuals.  Does not apply here.

Agreed.  Just drop the 2.4T into the Crosstrek for those people.  Don’t even have to do anything else to the Crosstrek (this is Subaru, people love to buy their stuff half baked anyway).

And yet previous generation had the highest sales yet.  I don’t think it’s time has passed.

Governments’ regulation and taxation makes all forms of energy generation more expensive than they need to be (varies by type, and I’m not saying we’d necessarily be better off if all that was wiped out) so it’s dumb to cry about subsidies for FF.

We lost our (mostly newfound) energy independence the moment Biden took the reins.

Oil is a worldwide traded commodity.  Everyone pays the same (more or less).  It’s inexpensive in the US because we don’t tax it that much.  People in other countries like to cry about it but never try drive to do anything about it (or they just enjoy excellent mass transit/train systems [which usually make more sense

So your argument against government manipulation is to cite...further government manipulation?  :-P

No, you do need to be wealthy to buy a $45k car.  Otherwise you’re just being financially irresponsible.

Top down policies will never be in favor, because it’s more about making money, centralizing power and screwing over citizens than it is about saving the environment.

Pretty funny given that the particle emissions of diesels are horrendous for humans. Considerably worse than CO2 plant food.
