That was just an example man.  I’m not gonna dig into part numbers just to engage in a stupid argument where to you, adding more power to the BRZ platform is an achievement on par with landing on the moon.

Not sure why you have to act like such an asshole. Furthermore, I never said it was gonna happen. It’s just funny how you and others act like it’s task equivalent to scaling Mount Everest without an air supply. Meanwhile plenty of other companies that DO care about their enthusiast base, do it all the time and

Sorry try again. Not one of “those idiots”. No, of course it’s not cost effective to drop in a new engine near the middle or end of a car’s life cycle. But guess what, it happens all the time! Focus ST, Focus RS, the Mustang got the Coyote engine mid-life cycle...Porsche installs new engines at mid-life cycle all the

True, that engine wasn’t out yet. But it sure was in development.  You act like it’s impossible to plan ahead.

Remember people, this is the same Toyota that offered a dealer installed (and factory warranty retaining) supercharger for the Scion tC & Tacoma pickup truck.

Apparently you’re not up to date on the car’s bones. Several components of the car are already more than able to handle increased power. For starters, the rear differential was lifted off of the Lexus IS. And the brakes come from the WRX. Neither requires modification to accommodate a WRX engine’s power.

Oh cool, so they’re good with honoring the factory warranty after I slap on a supercharger?

Who said anything about an all new engine?

Yeah actually it’s funny that people expect more from a car costing close to $30,000.  If the price were closer to $20k than 30k a lot less people would be complaining.  I’m sure everyone knows “how to drive it”.  I did, and it was too slow.

Just admit when Toyota makes a mistake.  These jackasses designed the car so it could accommodate being offered as a convertible.  Instead they should have designed it to easier accept a 2nd engine option.

200hp is just boring in a straight line at the race tracks.  Some of us like the excitement of speed on the straight sections.  But yes, great AutoX car.  Personally though, I got tired of sitting out in the sun for 8 hours just to drive for < 10 minutes.

A new engine? IF ONLY a similarly sized turbo engine already existed. Hmm...

Yes

Technically speaking it’s not the same motor.

Then make it lighter or cheaper.

Who cares if it cannibalizes sales of a tuned econo-car.  Some people actually enjoy RWD designed sexy looking coupes.  Just because there is “some” overlap in buyers doesn’t mean there’s a lot.

In a way, I guess lol.

If anyone is Russia friendly it’s the EU and their misguided lust for renewables.  All their shortfalls in energy are being addressed by Russia.  Amazing how that works out, haha.

Somewhat fair point, especially if you ignore that all the increases under Obama’s reign were on private land, and had nothing to do with the federal government.

So Toyota is finally offering some performance goodies that have been available on the BRZ for well over a year...and is charging more for the privilege? LOL, yeah okay.
