don’t get all culture-war-y on me

this article establishes she was already re-casted before the insulting offer was made. i suspect they tried to offer her a cameo to save face.

this is a pretty nuanced take. .

I just want to say Hellena attacking fellow union member Hale for her career being unsuccessful is extremely shitty of her. I dont know why they decided to not invite her to reprise the role but this is no way to go about lose a role.

What do you make?

So the truth comes out. They re-casted her first. Sounds like the 4k was them trying to throw her a bone in a cameo role. Which would be insulting for someone begging to reprise the role of the protagonist.

Edit: wrong articls

Hale is union. Stop calling her a scab. No one owes Hellena Taylor a job.

They don’t work that much. Much of their professional time is spent auditioning. More famine than feast. So when they do land a role, the pay has to count and last them awhile.

pretty easy to figure out what she got at a minimum - union minimum is listed in the article. 4k assumes less than 10 hours of dialogue recorded, AT MOST. If they’re paying her more than minimum rates, than the amount she’s recording is even smaller. Past Bayonetta games were 16 hour records for her character (4x4hour

this just reminded me of the conversation i had with VA Brian Dobson, where he was talking about his regular job doing news updates for a local radio channel. we were recording something big, cool, and nerdy that day but he was pretty satisfied with a regular gig where he got to leverage his talents. when the news he

fyi, Hellena said in a past interview Bayonetta 2 was 4 x 4 hour sessions for her. Pretty standard.

she wasn’t fired. she did the job and it was over. and there was a new job, but they hired someone else. they re-casted the character she used to play.

your work is more steady. Hellena Taylor IMDB only lists 24 credits. the last role she played that wasn’t Bayonetta was in 2011. That’s why she’s freaking out - she just lost her one signature role to a more talented (IMO) and successful actress.

this visceral reaction that its “incredible fucked up thing” when behind the scenes is often the result of something mundane and boring, usually a scheduling conflict.

minimum union rates are well established, 4k assumes less than 10 hours of material (and that’s if they’re paying bottom of the barrel). which, uh, i think in answering this question you & I have revealed something intriguing here, combined with this earlier point:

Fyi, i dont know how many other speaking roles the game has, but according to Hellena herself recording Bayonetta was 4x4hour sessions. So yeah, a week is plausible.

I you worked 8 hours a day those two weekends, you’ve done twice as much work than Hellena Taylor has done on Bayonetta. 16 hours for Bayonetta 2, 4 x 4 hour sessions.

Well that sounds like a typical Japanese passive aggressive business tactic, thats no way to do business either. Just outright tell the actress you re-casted her.

Have you heard her in Bayonetta? She’s uh, in my professional opinion, not very good. Thats the reason she doesn’t get much work. Organizing boycotts when she loses out on a role probably doesn’t make people want to hire her.
