Just to reiterate what Andrew said, it was dark. Video cameras tend to make the scene seem more well lighted. Add to this that Stewart was looking through a visor, perhaps smeared with dirt, and certainly *not* expecting a person to be standing in the middle of the track. We cannot know what a person's intentions

Spot on. It's much more effective in a sprint to use the gas to get around an obstacle than the brakes. You can't exactly hop on the brakes in one of these without locking them up. It's definitely a game of finesse.

So...were they winding back odometers or something? Last time I checked you couldn't really do that anymore.

Hermann Göring might be a better person to talk to about Nuremburg. Nurburg, on the other hand, would conceivably rest under the GT-R's purview.

I think they already tried that and it failed completely. Why they think hard drive in a car is different from the one in your house is anyone's guess.

I was referring to safety regs at tracks. Here are some from my local tracks.

This sounds like freedom.

It was an honor going out to the races last year and helping his crew push that car onto the track a couple times. I am so glad I got to meet him while he was still in a race suit.

I hope the future holds great things for you in NC, Torch. Here's LA in 1955........possibly the 101.

99% of the people who own high performance cars have no clue how to drive them. Just go to Test & Tune at nearly any track and watch wealthy men drive their Vipers, ZR1 Vettes, Ferarris, Porches, Lambos etc., all run 13's...

people forgot that street tires are greasy when they're overheated and aren't prepared to handle it.

they are also more than likely understating the numbers for insurance reasons.

How about something small and old? MGs are shit cars, but fun to drive (they're the manual typewriter of cars), look incredible and are easy to fix (and you'll be spending a lot of time under the ol' bonnet). And parts are super easy to come by.

That is a drop dead gorgous car. Love the color combo. I wish the 54's were available in that combo too.

I am green with envy, she's so beautiful…

great read...loved the ending, bought an alpha hahaha

That thing looks presidential. All it needs is some little American flags at the front corners.

Catalina love! My dad has a blue 69 convertible, 52K/mi!

Your story is sort of like mine. I bought a 55' Mercury Monterey 13 years ago when I was just out of college. I had owned nothing but Toyotas and had never worked much on cars. So I was scared of buying it at first. But I did it anyway.
