I agree that most people want to get from A to B on a road trip as fast as possible. If you’re not a driving enthusiast, a long trip is exhausting and often frustrating. I was surprised they didn't catch it immediately. I have a '53 Pontiac, and the serial number on that car pre-dates modern VIN numbers. It was immediately flagged for not having a valid VIN. Of course they know that a car that old won't have a VIN, but they still flag it anyway as part of their due diligence.
