There was a '51 for sale at the most recent Pomona swap meet. The paint was rather rough, but it ran beautifully.

Can you edit my name? N-i-e-r. It's been misspelled since the beginning of time, so I harbor no malice. :)

Both big and old and car and old are great. That's why bought the Alfa Romeo after the Pontiac. They both have their own unique charms.

The previous owner chose that color. It's not original. With my budget, I chose to match the bad spots up rather than paint the entire car. It's a '90s Mercedes metallic green.

It's tough but it's not impossible. My Pontiac car was $6000 13 years ago. That was before prices for classic cars really started taking off. You have to be willing to learn, and you have to be open-minded. Classic 4 doors cost a lot less than 2 doors. In Florida, you have to look out for rust. Look for something with

Yup. I'm not at all brand loyal. My cars come from all over the place. And if there's one thing that's more of a pain in the ass to work on than a classic car, it's an Alfa. But I love it.

I wish I had the photos! I used to put little flags on the window sills for car shows.

I love it. There's plenty of room under the hood to work on them, and they're simple enough to figure out. And once you learn these old cars, the learning curve of new cars isn't so steep.

Thanks. I love thinking back to those first days of owning it. My parents never complained about me getting such an old car, and my dad was usually right there beside me when it broke down. We went through a lot, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Thank you so much. It's been a pain in the ass at times, but I never want to get rid of it.

When I was 15, I bought my '53 Pontiac Catalina Custom Coupe. It was big, slow, and not very expensive. A very eye catching car form 20 feet, it needed plenty of work to keep it going.

Thanks so much. I think one of the rentals would be right up my alley. I already have a dedicated track car, so I definitely don't need another full-time car. Maybe I can try for that night of destruction enduro on 8/30.

I live near Irwindale, and I've always wanted to run one of these events. What is the actually cost involved? If you don't already have a junker ready to go, what is the cost to get one set up to race?

The 2002 at the top is such a tease.

It may not be revolutionary, but I really like the way it looks. Methinks I'll need to test drive one.

I have some expensive chef's knives, but this is what I use every day. It's stury, low-cost, and cuts extremely well. It's not going to impress anyone with the way it looks, but who cares? This thing is great.

There are other angles, but sadly the Facebook video won't embed here.

Yeah. That sound was awful. I might ask him what it was after a few more days have passed.

I raced against that car in California the weekend before. Sad to see its life ended so quickly. Hopefully the damage isn't too severe and the car can be repaired.
