Lyme disease is most common in the eastern US. Very low prevalence by comparison in the midwest/west.

I do not know how old you are (not asking!) but when I was a kid, something like 1 in 7 ticks were Lyme carriers in California; now it is about 1 in 3. Has to do with deforestation; rodent infestations; and climate change.
