Ah, the lesser known bells of dread. Glad it worked out!
More when I was younger. I knew right away when I met people whether we would be close friends or not. And those people I knew it about are still mostly very close friends, 30 years later.
We watched it on German TV, where it was called One At A Time - actually, both that and the English title are better than the Norwegian title.
It always bums me out when US film companies do a remake of foreign films, and those originals aren’t credited in the press. This film, Kraftidioten (Power Idiots), is a brilliant Norwegian film starring Stellan Skarsgard as a model citizen Swede in Norway. Get the original if you can, because the deadpan humor is a…
Greetings, fellow Old!
Yay for the Voice Of Future Marriage!
(My bell-ringer also ‘wasn’t my type.’)
I believe in Love At First Sight, I just don’t think it necessarily has to last forever. Lucky if it’s mutual, and lucky if it lasts...
I’ve spent my entire adult life with the same person and honestly couldn’t be happier about that - but there a myriad forms of happiness out there.
Re: Knowing when you meet the one.
Well, I can’t say anything about Grande’s love at first sight moment, but I can say I had one when I first saw my one and only, Mr. UrbanAchiever. A mutual friend had a b&w image of Mr. UA, and showed it to me. And I swear, bells went off in my head. We met a couple of weeks later in…

I wear reading glasses sometimes, but overall, wearing glasses for any length of time is uncomfortable. Contact lenses, after 20 years, were uncomfortable. So - Lasik.
Wore contact lenses for sooo long. Had Lasik surgery. Never looked back.
Starts to really find its way around Episode 3. And then it gets really good. Only watched the first episodes in a binge one night because we were too tired and tipsy to get up and go to bed. Glad we watched. The final episodes are delightfully brutal.
“He has even worked the phone with our competitors, injecting stability into bilateral relationships that are undergoing contentious, but necessary readjustments to place American interests first.”
I am so sorry to hear about what happened. Really, really sorry that people didn’t treat you the way you deserved to be treated.
My daughter is a badass, and I was so proud of her for 1) punching the offender and 2) going forward with prosecution (as a foreign resident).
Unfortunately, I don’t think that everyone knows that this is a complicated issue.
I never reported any of my assaults, partly because sometimes I didn’t realize it was a thing I could/should do, and a couple of times, I was living in foreign countries and didn’t want to be a ‘troublesome’ foreign resident or put my status at risk in any way (which should also say something about how many immigrants…
