The purple’s also very tied into the Purple Man and the shadow he’s cast over her life.

Jessica Jones story is tragic and awesome.. she tried being a super hero, got turned into a mentally controlled puppet by Killgrave (AKA Purple Man) and... nobody noticed. He degraded and humiliated her. It’s never been explicitely stated that he sexually abused her, but it’s been implied.

I would have killed for a Misty Knight series with Pam Grier as the lead.. I wonder who could do her now?

Because it’s exactly that cult type behavior. It makes Mac owners feel elite, like they’ve all found something that the ‘normals’ haven’t so they’re automatically more special. Apple is more or less Scientology without the aliens and e-meters.

Umm the emotional connotations of being bogged down? That’s exactly why ‘quagmire’ is used to describe awkward, complex or hazardous situations..

I’ve been through areas where you can drive for hours without seeing a McDonalds. Usually they’re highly rural farming land and the only way to tell when you’re passing through the town center is the speed limit on the state highway you’re on drops to 35 for a 1/4 of a mile.

What part of “terraformed” isn’t getting through to you? In order for people to live on the surface of Venus, that thicker atmosphere would have to be thinned down. The fact that Venus has close to Earth gravity is good because living in micro-gravity long term has a number of health problems.

Your world seems to invoke what I like to think of as unitard logic. That men and women are just cookie cutter replacements for each other with no inherent differences, attitudes or desires. It’s an interesting sci-fi story, but it’s not real life.

Can women really be in drag though? Women have been wearing men’s clothing in day to day life for ages. It’s not unusual and doesn’t stand out.

Because a woman in drag is not the same as a man in drag. It simply doesn’t evoke the same feelings.

Is there, specifically, anything preventing the Harvard female alumni from establishing a female centered hasty pudding?

When she booked the appointment did she tell them one of the slots was for her? Or just made an appointment for two?

On the one hand, that is true, on the other there are differences that should be respected. Ask a black women if she’d willingly go to a stylist that has never worked on black hair before. It’s not going to happen, because black hair is different and needs to be treated different.

Yeah, except for the whole offering to pay for her to get a cut somewhere else. That’s what everyone seems to be forgetting in their righteous indignity here, they didn’t just say nope no thanks, they said “we don’t cut women’s hair, here we’ll pay for you to go someplace that does sorry for the inconvenience.”

You know what though? If they did say “This is where we go to get away from the white people.” I would be perfectly fine with it, because I don’t feel some compulsion to stick my white male face in everyone else’s comfort zones.

Actually, there is. And yes, hormones is a part of it. But hey, don’t let actual biological differences impact your feelings, m’kay. Although probably the bigger differences in hair are racial vs sexual.

Item 1) Look around your salon. See all the dyes and products and flashy lights and chrome and glitz? How long do you spend in the salon? Do you fuss with the hairdresser about your “look”? All these things cost $$$. Even if all you want is the minimum, you’re getting the minimum Porche.

You want a safe & harassment free zone yet you want to intrude into a brofist dudefest at the barbershop in a way guaranteed to create the most hostile environment possible?
