My time trials slayer started as an old Formula Vee. In place of the standard 1200cc engine and drum brakes it has a very built 2276cc engine, wilwood 4-piston calipers on all corners, and 12" racing slicks on the rear. This fairly budget build, air-cooled VW has disappointed some very expensive cars.
Exactly, in racing conditions if you put all of the work load through the transmission both accelerating and decelerating then you’re risking overheating it. Remember you have about a 15% power loss through the transmission, which is turned into heat.
