Yeah, but how are you going to fit hundreds of manufacturers plus a 24 hour race, plus a bunch of development sessions and everyone and their dog onto Circuit De La Sarthe in ONE OR TWO DAYS?

My comment got the most likes for a real track, so that’s not entirely true.
I don’t know what goes on here anymore. The logic was thrown out the window when Ray Wert left. Patrick is an excellent editor-in-chief, so I imagine this is at the hands of his employee’s.
This is a sad fact. But all those people who are skilled at repairing cars where someone has gone through the windshield at high speed and died, only to have them resold again, are worth more as individuals, and deserve to be recognized for their creative ability, not their ability as a fabricator.
Aren’t the Isle of Man and Circuit De La Sarthe public roads when not being used for racing?
Someone want to explain to me how that would work, besides one or maybe two days a year where many hundreds or even thousands of people would be displaced outside of their own personal will?
I’m not asking to abolish the government or to make a radical change of a structure that holds us together fundamentally as a society.
That’s rich. Thanks.
Acting for the people is one thing (in a democratic environment) but politicians shouldn’t be expected to have to wipe their asses for them as well, and that is basically what the principle of the continued funding of the NHTSA is doing; mollycoddling the American consumer with the security of advanced safety.
1989 was 26 years ago.
The United States is 239 years old this year.
Blame that on society, not on the NHTSA.
Sorry, Double post.
Shut ‘em down. Keep most, if not all currently set mandates in place.
HCR32.
This is where an NA/NB Miata can seriously pull ahead.
This car was very fast up the mountains of Gatineau, in N/A guise. Faster than my friends with Silvia’s, Skyline GTS-t’s, and RX-7 FC’s.
Knurled: Clearly a texture designed to aid in grip.
I hated that track with every ounce of my being.
Also known as an open highway when not a racetrack...
I absolutely agree with this. No power steering and a small diameter wheel requires as much “wrestling” as possible to get the most out of. Even F1 drivers have their thumbs in - but small diameter wheels also decrease the range of movement in the event of a slip-up, so you’re on the safe side. A regular, airbag…
It’s where Ayrton honed his skills in his off time, it’s got a very challenging switchback section right after the main straight, it has some very sharp high speed turns, it has a decent amount of elevation change, it’s a very challenging track to a beginner, and it has some absolutely beautiful sweepers.
