So you’re right that none of those games are on Battle.net, the app; but they’re technically available on Battle.net, the website, as long as you already have a CD key associated with your account.

You’re probably right. Realistically pointing out the connection isn’t gonna do a damned thing because they’re so huge, but I think if enough people start to talk about it then that’s at least the first step to gaining some leverage over the corporate machine.

and just like that, all the good will they have spent the last two years building up is gone.

I’m from Edmonton, and that wasn’t even the first bank to be robbed in that manner either. We also had a (botched) suicide bombing at a library last month, so I can understand why some people are on edge.

Reminder that Riot’s parent company, Tencent, also owns 40% of Epic Games and an undisclosed amount of Discord. They literally own 100% of Riot and could make this right in an instant, but choose to do nothing.

For what it’s worth I play a ton of Overwatch and had the exact same thought.

Basically for all the people who didn’t read this I didn’t like his comment as I found it inflaming the issue and completely unnecessary and an impediment to progress.

Not surprised, there weren’t any nominations from the Dota scene either. That category was an absolute sham.

Honestly it might as well have been F2P before this, it regularly goes on sale for less than $5.

when push comes to shove, they will inavariably favor their own bottomline over everything else.

That’s not nearly as big a problem as it might seem, and could actually be seen as a good thing. I believe they’ve talked about this before, but the team in charge of securing those ads and the editorial team are kept completely separate to avoid exactly what you’re implying. I think it was last Christmas there was a

Mate, people have been falling all over themselves to excuse Bethesda’s incompetence since Fallout 3. This is nothing new, it literally won’t matter in a few months because of how many corporate stooges and apologists are out there.

Because then they wouldn’t be able to charge $400 for it.

Agreed. TBH I can’t see a scenario where that kind of low-level, individual data would even be useful for an advertiser.

Now playing

Yeah. I respect what they’re trying to do here, but imo it doen’t work very well with all those modern effects and shaders.

I really hope Valve get their shit together with the monetization here because I feel like the game itself has the potential to be something really special. I was never able to get into MTG or Hearthstone but I spent nearly 5 hours playing last night.

For sure. I was ready for a scathing indictment of corporate bureaucracy and the dehumanization of our labor (which they definitely seemed to be setting up in the first half), but what I got was “TRUST THE SYSTEM, FELLOW CITIZEN. THE SYSTEM HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND. THE SYSTEM IS INFALLIBLE, DO NOT BLAME THE

Totally agreed. The takeaway from this episode was just... yikes. Corporate bootlicker propaganda through-and-through, which I definitely didn’t expect from a season that has (up to this point at least) tackled these sorts of social issues pretty tastefully.

It depends on the degree to which their other code is coupled to this jank.

It’s not our responsibility to make sure a dev/game series stays afloat - it’s their responsibility to provide us with a compelling enough offer that it results in sales.
