Fair point, I guess I just assumed that he and his friend are both American citizens. If this happened in the UK or somewhere then yeah, that’s pretty dumb.

I mean Uganda is, in fact, located in Africa. So your friend is absolutely an African-American.
I get carsick if I so much as look at my phone while riding in a vehicle so I fully expected to be one of those people, but surprisingly enough I’ve had zero issues with nausea in VR - first thing I did after setting my Rift was to enable full locomotion in every game that allowed it.
tbh both sides do this - when the country is as polarized as it is, you’re not going to be changing many minds, regardless of if you’re on the Right or the Left.
People don’t think it be like it is, but it do.
Fuck music festivals.
I meant it in the sense that not knowing the name of a videogame series isn’t some serious social faux-pas deserving of scorn, like some commenters here seem to think.
Eh, not really. I’m sure there’s some guy out there who sees you buying groceries or washing your car or whatever and thinks you’re “totally cringe” for not buying the superior brand of toilet paper or using the wrong kind of soap on your taillights.
I believe it. There’s an old interview where he says the whole reason he started making games was because nobody would take a chance on his screenplays. Dude’s always been a massive cinephile, and it definitely shows in his work (and his Twitter, which is like 90% him geeking out over film stars)
Thing is, it’s not that great of an angle for mass consumer appeal.
For a brief period of time—when it actually mattered in my life—talent in art was wealth gated.
Reminds me of those dumb French Connection UK shirts. Every highschool kid thought they were so edgy for wearing them because it said “FCUK”
You’re not really playing Nier multiple times, though - each “playthrough” is really just a cleverly-disguised Chapter, up until you get to the real ending which is pretty definitive.
But that’s my whole point. You have the ability to disobey an illegal order not only because it’s enshrined in law (depending on your country anyway - I don’t know where you live), but also because you’re protected by your union. HR people have none of those protections, nor do game developers have protection from HR…
My guess is they applied for tourist visas or some visa waivers, which absolutely is not the type of visa you need to come here to do the type of promotion work it sounds like they will be doing.
I know some people who do HR work and they genuinely do care about the people they deal with and represent. It’s not an evil profession like a lot of people seem to think, they really are trying to help.
Just got home from TI8, it was my first one (though I’ve been playing/watching since 2) and I loved the hell out of every minute. Talked to some other folks who felt it was a little lackluster though, mainly in regard to Rogers Arena and the lack of green space to watch the games outdoors.
Honestly, unless you’re going for full custom loops most people really won’t see much benefit from liquid cooling. Off-the-shelf closed loops are cheaper than they used to be, but they’re still more expensive and harder to install than a regular heatsink for very marginal benefit - not to mention the limited shelf…
Unfortunately for him, pretty much everyone called his bluff and it’s delicious.
