In academia, there is no distinction. Plagiarism is plagiarism, whether you’re paraphrasing an idea/phrase without citation or lifting the basic structure of an argument wholesale.

And isn’t plagiarism more word-for-word, not phrases and direction? When I was a columnist I ended up writing about the same events as many websites I read, but never plagiarized them, just learned info from them.

... Reviews are editorial content. In the context of a game review this can refer to either the initial writing, the proofreading of the initial writing, or the process of making the video.

But where do you draw the line? What about a game like Unturned, which was made by self-taught high school kid but contains no original assets at all? It’s an asset flip, but it was also made in good faith as a learning exercise.

I mean, you’re technically correct - people aren’t paying for the boxes directly, but the entire point of the Battlepass is that you buy levels which give you a Treasure at certain milestones. It simply isn’t possible to level up enough to get these through regular gameplay alone, especially with the removal of last

So... Where are all the people from the last article who were saying Steam needs to be more heavily-regulated? Because under any sort of normal storefront guidelines, a game like this would not be able to exist.

Also important to note that ACE has a history of its own controversies, and despite ostensibly being a “player’s union” is generally not well-liked by Chinese players at all.

I think I was watching the episode with Phillip Defranco and they mentioned like 4 wings in that he was already doing better than DJ Khaled

Dead Cells is fantastic. Like you, I’m usually not a fan of roguelikes - I absolutely hated Rogue Legacy, for one - but this one feels special. The combat is very SotN where you get 2 weapons and 2 magic abilities, and it’s really fun to play with combos and figure out how everything synergizes. You also get currency

I was on the Konami hate train before it was cool

she wants to help make the game industry a more inclusive place for marginalized game enthusiasts.

A lot of that game exists on tumblrs and twitter feeds filled with fanart and fanfiction, a well Blizzard, I’d argue, has become even somewhat dependent on as it continues trying to develop and expand the game.

IIRC Anno got super fuckin’ depressed while writing EVA, which is why it took such a dark turn.

Conversely, I wonder how many of the people saying she shouldn’t have been fired were cheering on the dozens of social media firings we’ve had in the last 12 months alone. I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and say it’s a lot higher than your number.

Yeah. Nothing against MGS but I find the people that hold Kojima (and MGS2 specifically) up as some sort of prophetic text usually have a very shallow understanding of pop culture and almost no exposure to literature or mediums outside videogames as a whole.
