I’m playing this one in co-op with a friend and am feeling this hard. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a blast so far but every time my friend goes off and starts talking to NPCs or looting I’m scared he’s going to piss off an interesting quest-giver or do some super secret hidden side-content without me.

That’s more than a little unfair. Looking back on it, yes, it’s clear that Skylar wasn’t the villain people felt she was. But she was an obstacle to the protagonist (however much of a selfish prick he may have been) and his goals, and it’s very clear they intentionally wrote her as such.
