Make the reward for losing so low that it’s not worth the electricity it takes to run their PC. Say, #100-90 is 0 points and maybe you can have a sharp increase after that so the people who are playing but just bad/unlucky still get something.

I have no data to back this up - other than the fact that Blizzard has admitted to doing similar things with SR to encourage players - but Overwatch definitely has a hidden comeback mechanic. I’ve seen (and been a part of) way too many 99-0 comebacks for that not to be the case. Victories where one team 110%,

Yeah that was definitely a thing. I believe they did it to encourage twitch shooting: if your reticle hovers over them for a second or two they’ll dodge, but if you just flick and shoot they don’t have time to react.

The problem is that a lot of Classics courses (in my experience, at least) are based around specific translations by certain authors, and often make use of compilations with obscure-ass reference material that isn’t as freely available.

Starcraft’s AI also cheats, at the highest level it literally harvests more minerals than is possible.

You’ve got it backwards. The thing with particle observation is a pop culture misconception; the reason that observing a particle influences its behavior is because the tools we use to measure them are flawed by design. Information has to travel through something (at least until we solve quantum entanglement), so we

That’s a good point. It’s hard because anyone who proves too big an obstacle for Trump quickly finds themselves out of a job; I think Mattis is doing a good job of using his position to resist where he can while also doing just enough so that he won’t be replaced by someone who’ll just roll over like a good little pet.

That would honestly be a huge blow, Mattis is one of the few holdouts who actually have a level head and the capacity to at least minimize Trump’s damage.

Honestly, the biggest thing I’m worried about is balance. I’m a PC gamer through and through but what you say definitely has some truth to it.

I was surprised by how well-optimized it is (and also how goddamned pretty it is, too.) I can’t max it out, but it easily runs at a stable 60 on High, and my rig is pretty mediocre nowadays (960 and an older-gen i5).

From what I heard, they did give him the chance. Multiple times. And each time, del Toro said he needed a higher budget so eventually they just said “fuck it” and got someone more competent.

I actually really dig it, I think it works a lot better than the smooth (but still awkwardly low-poly) cell-shaded thing modern anime games try to go for.

This seems really fuckin’ cool, but I’ve never really been able to get into Arcsys games. I know I shouldn’t expect every game to play like Street Fighter, but something about the way player movement works in those games never really clicked with me - always felt like your character was walking through glue or

The benefit is that you get placed in closer, more interesting and more fair matches. I can’t believe people need trinkets and progression systems to coerce them into playing it.

Oh, for sure. I bought a 960 for pretty cheap when the initial 1080 reference cards came out and it runs most games beautifully - can’t max out newer stuff as well as I’d like, but it’s still well above console spec (and would probably be even better if I bothered to set up a proper OC profile).

Here’s hoping the PC port is solid.

I dig it. There’s a sadness in his eyes that seems kinda poignant.

It is when you explicitly ban people for earning them in a legitimate way, within the bounds of the game’s predefined rules and structure.

Which is hilarious, because farming loot boxes does literally nothing to hinder other people’s enjoyment of the game. They’re salty because people found a way around their insidious microtransaction bullshit.

I can agree on that. Refined sugars are pretty terrible for a number of reasons, but absolutely none of those reasons have anything to do with cancer, autism, boneitis, or whatever else those quacks like to claim.
