Agreed - most of these avatars mean nothing to me, even if they do mean something to their owners. Associating the entire comment thread with them probably isn't the best idea.
Well-put, +1.
It looks like old stuff will be restored: http://help.gawker.com/entries/21299261-where-is-my-old-account-s-history-friends-and-followers
This is true, what's going to happen to the expert pages? There's no way the same idea will work for long-running forums like those - even with just 83 direct replies to this post, there's no way I'm going to look through most of them.
Isn't that precisely what the "Burner" accounts are aimed towards? You get a reusable, completely separate account.
I'd agree that a larger top-level display would be nice - there's no way I'm going to click through all 83 individual comments for this page, for instance.
Ok, so I keep seeing mentions of horizontal scrolling, but I've no idea what that does on the new system - any hints there? Also, any way to search the comments?
Yes, this would make the whole system easier to use. I can't currently find any way to search all comments on a post, and that's kind of a problem.
Yes, I do - since I'm still in university, it's the easiest way to check on time. Ever try pulling out your cell during a final exam?
I'm fond of [userstyles.org] myself, same idea, but easier on the eyes.
I wanted my messages to show up at the top of the inbox when they were finished snoozing, so I modded the script a little.
Yup - see justin150's comment: [lifehacker.com]
Replying to promote - nice addition!
If you're looking for an addon to do it, several people have mentioned Boomerang ([www.boomeranggmail.com]). This is nice for some of us, however, because it doesn't add anything to the browser, and in fact, is browser-independent - it works from Google's side, not ours.
If you change the label names, you'll need to update the getLabelName function - currently, it takes in a number (number of days left) and puts a string together that reads, "Snooze/Snooze i days" - that is, in the "Snooze" parent label, the "Snooze i days" sublabel.
So, I suppose in answer to your actual question, that would be a no - you do have to lightly modify the code.
It required a second run for me once it was authorized - try that.
You need to attempt the running of the setup script twice, it seems - once to authorize it, once to actually add the labels and such. Does that help at all?
Looks like it can - I think you'd just change the first "Snooze" in the 'getLabelName' function. So, to add a * in the front, try making the line:
