Clearly Jalopnik is in the pocket of the “Big Grail” cartel.

indeed. I’m sure that they’ve done the due diligence to make sure that it’s technically possible, but that’s gotta be a huge strain on the brakes and drive-train on what is a (relative to the max load) light vehicle. That’s not even taking into account a potentially non-CDL (or inexperienced CDL) driver.

5th gear: I was struck, when (briefly) visiting Germany last year, with how matter of fact the historical exhibits I visited were about admitting how Germany was in the wrong regarding World War II and all that it entailed. Frankly, it was refreshing. No excuses were offered. There was no attempt to rationalize or

Towing 35,000+ lbs is one thing. Stopping that much weight, once moving, is another. I’m sure that they factored that in, but that’s asking a lot.

This man is a hero. Emperor Brady has no clothes.

One aspect of this I take note with is the idea that when the economy tanks, gas prices rise. This was definitely not the case back in ‘07/’08. Gas prices actually plummeted. That being said, the drop was in large part due to a sell-off of oil futures by investors desperate for cash to cover losses triggered by

For when you want all of the head trauma of playing in the NFL but not the requisite athletic ability.

Disappointed in the high (and rising!) belt-line and enormous C/D pillar, but LOVE that burgundy interior option.

The same people who whine when a state of emergency is declared to keep people off the roads then get stuck when they go out anyway, blocking the road, preventing it from being cleared, then blame the gub’ment for not doing their jobs.

I honestly think a stupidly big part of the problem, amazingly enough is that people continue to refer to them as “snow tires” and think that it only makes a difference in snow, not cold weather and ice. Whether it’s consumer ignorance or poor marketing, it seems like almost nobody realizes the importance of having a

Despite the ground being frozen, it seems like no municipality took the right tact preparing for this storm . They did not pre-treat the roads (I don’t know how effective pre-treating brine is, but it shows they were not taking the storm seriously by not using it) nor salt aggressively at the onset of the storm.

thanks for the info. I’ll probably give it a go, but at this point I’ll have to wait until the new year, because reasons.

What about the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ? With those do you get the best of the Miata & GTI or are they too compromised by trying to serve both masters? Not trying to troll, just on paper they would seem to maintain the enthusiast bent while providing more practicality. (It would be nice if they had more torque, though,

Yeah, now that I’ve weened myself off of my most recent anti-depressant, I should be in the clear from any drug interaction issues. It’s become increasingly apparent that maybe I should perhaps not discount the grow option as readily as I have.

Yeah, I’ve seen really strong evidence that it can be amazing, in dire situations in particular. For now I think I’d rather explore options that are less of an addiction risk long-term. I don’t doubt it’s a life-saver for some.

Yeah, that’s exactly the kind of results it seems like some people have gotten from the clinical trials I’ve seen. Something that could reduce/eliminate the depression symptoms for a month or two at a time would be an enormous improvement in quality of life.

Thanks. I think I looked at this a year to two ago (but had forgotten about as a resource since). At the time I think most near me were looking for subjects with specific conditions not necessarily applicable to me.

It’s funny you should mention this because up until a week ago or so there was a patch of ground along a route I frequent that was almost inexplicably rich with different types of mushrooms (considering the lack of mushrooms on adjoining plots). However, none of them seemed likely candidates for what I’m looking for.
