I mean, this guy doesn’t exactly fit the “anti-gumamint” stererotype you’re probably picturing. Perhaps that is why most of the articles covering this just use stock images.

You most certainly do not. It makes you more competitive, especially for cushy suburban departments, but it’s not a requirement. I would be surprised if you could find a single local PD or sheriff’s office in the entire country that explicitly lists that as a requirement.

Came here to say this. Companies like Google and Apple aren’t just hiring Stanford grads. There are so many free or low-cost resources available that allow people to learn coding, computer networking, cybersecurity, etc. without attending college. These self-taught people with a passion for what they do are often

blue collar jobs for non-college educated people have absolutely disappeared

With the current belt-tightening happening at tech companies, it will be interesting to see if Amazon continues to dump money into them. A lot of people don’t consider the Model S to be a true luxury car, whereas the Air is squarely aimed at the luxury market. The price difference does amount to more than just drag race stats.

You better have a fat wallet. They run $250k.

On top of all of that, for every $100k of revenue, they are losing like $150-200k just on a COGS basis without factoring in OPEX. This is before their mix is more of the cheaper models AND before losing tax credit.

It’s in the center console though? Not far from where controls would typically be located.
