But this has to stop for widespread EV adoption. There is a limit as to how much heavy metals etc we have on this planet to manufacture batteries. Let’s at least acknowledge that this car’s battery pack could power 3 other commuter cars and still be powerful enough to have a 5 second 0-60.

Some quick Googling says they lapped it in 1:31, but that was way back in 2020 when it was just being tested.

I suspect their decision to price it that way was driven at least in part by exclusivity. Demand for their cars still far outpaces supply, so might as well capitalize on it while they can.

The 360 figure was just for Q1, the projection for 2022 is 6-7k.

My guy, maybe you forgot already, but you are the one who used a completely made up number placeholder.

“The base trim won’t be available till 2025 at the earliest, 3 years later than what’s currently published on their website.”

That sure is a lot of words when you could have just said “I pulled it out of my ass.”

There is actually a Lucid at that $140k pricepoint too, it’s the same car and same interior but you have to “live” with a 3-second 0-60.

Where are you getting 105k from? Did you mean 150?

Well he didn’t say how long the stops were or how much charge was added, just that they were “short-ish.”

those $77k models won’t be coming anytime soon (2025 at the earliest now).

How did you reach that conclusion? Any existing Tesla would struggle to make that drive “sans charger” even in ideal conditions. Motor Trend and others have already done it in the Air with plenty of charge to spare. It just objectively has more range.

To be fair the lowest trim is going for 100k less and is basically the same car with a single motor, smaller battery, and metal roof as far as I can tell.

He mentioned in another reply that he didn’t start with a full charge.

Lol.

Well, I have never driven one but hearing Cammisa call it “a driver’s car of the highest order” would suggest at the very least that the situation is not as dismal as you’re making it out to be. Between that thing and the Taycan, we can at least be grateful that someone out there is making EVs that are more than just

Now playing

EVs aren’t what comes to mind when I think of “driver’s car.”

BUT... Jason Cammisa had some pretty good things to say about the Lucid.

Depends when you order, the Bimmer won’t be available till next year.

“Faster than most econoboxes” isn’t exactly a very high bar to set for a Mercedes-Benz that’ll likely be priced in the six-figures range. Heck, looking at these pictures, many econoboxes probably have more interior space and much more usable back seats.

Not saying it isn’t cool or a newsworthy milestone, just that it’s

And that’s great for efficiency and range, but won’t do much in terms of performance when the car has only one motor that barely puts out 200hp and a top speed of ~90mph, as MB announced in January.
