I don’t have much confidence in that as an effective means of controlling demand. In fact if the limit were set as low as five gallons it would probably just become the norm for people to swipe again until their tank is full, largely eliminating any perceived social deterrence.

Loaded question. Can you show me some empirical evidence suggesting that poor people have actually been harmed by price gouging during/following natural disasters? Even a poor person would rather pay more for something they really need than be met by empty shelf by the time they get to the store. For those who truly

Gotcha, I mistook your first post for sarcasm. My mistake.

It seemed like you were suggesting that profits are automatically a bad thing, especially in the context of a natural disaster.

The counter-argument would be that the higher prices on scarce goods are mutually beneficial for two reasons.

If you’re an American, in my book at least, responding to that should be your only priority. Even Walmart came down and opened up their trucks for us during Katrina, even Walmart.

Are you talking about prioritizing facts (actual economics) over feelings?

Thank you for being one of the few making an argument with actual facts and not just feelings.

5 gallons each should get most 100+ miles...

That said, your car will only hold so much gas, and as for the other necessities, water, batteries, etc., why would you be hoarding them, if not to gouge somebody else?

There’s more to it than just that. Higher prices also create a greater incentive for retailers and suppliers to get more of that good into the market, whereas at lower prices it may be cost prohibitive or simply not worth the effort/risk for them to do so.

The fun fact being what, rationing? You really expect that to work?

And here I thought it couldn’t get much worse than “Little Caesars Arena.”

Public transport and track days have nothing to do with any of this, sarcasm or not. The point is not that you shouldn’t drive a fast car on public roads, but that your money is probably better spent getting something that’s actually good at what you want it to do.

You can call us examples of being dumb if you want but we’re both pretty jacked to have fun strapping our families in and looking for backroads on long trips.

I mean, he also ran multiple red lights and was probably speeding more than once.

Yeah we would really need more detail. This is just another clickbait article encouraging people to jump to conclusions based on a single unverified and one-sided account of the events.

Neither Musk nor Jobs invented anything.

Ohhhh I get it. That car is way too pristine to be an NYPD car.

The others you listed at least have some element of luxury which I suspect is the main reason people buy them. I’m sure the interior on the SRT is better than the base Durango but that’s not saying much.
