I recently leased a new car but it was one I could afford to pay cash for and drive off. I think its ok to get a loan or lease as there’s added convenience to liquidity vs owning a depreciating asset outright, but I still think people should shop within their means as if they were paying cash, assuming its feasible to

Fairly sure they’re retooling those lines for CUV production.

Crosstrek doesn’t move when you put your foot to the floor. It can’t get out of its own way. And while the latest update hopefully helped, the interior feels like it was made by Rubbermaid. I so badly wanted to like it. Pretty low bar for Ford to clear, that one, and given that the last Focus was a pretty good car I

This episode was exceptional. A+.

Feels like the ADR’d Syd’s voice for the mom during her scenes too.

Nice.

Can I ask why you went with that when for the same $ you can get a Mazda 3 that’s a little bigger and has more power?

This guy is why my insurance premiums are so high.

Oh man where were you? Haha. I had a floor price that was fairly low wholesale below which the convenience of Carmax was no longer worth it. They offered me that floor. I think between that and maintenance this car cost me $2/mile not including gas or insurance.

I have a Miata and just got an ‘18 GTI with a manual. Proudly not part of the problem. Also, if anyone is a licensed dealer to buy at Carmax auctions keep your eye on Northern California you should be able to get a small turbo manual Volvo wagon for cheap.

I’d have bought one over the GTI I just got. Though I actually would prefer 5 doors.

I am fairly sure my new GTI has red ones in the back (haven’t looked closely) but I believe that’s because they’re LEDs and they don’t meet some minimum surface area requirement or something dumb and out of date. Fronts are amber.

Stopping at the yield sign is something I’m noticing more and more and it drives me nuts.

What? 1. You can replace pedal covers and carpet fairly easily. Wear smooth shoes while driving if it really bothers you. 2. If you’re in an accident and have to get out of your car quickly, not wearing shoes is going to fuck you up. 3. Driving a manual barefoot hurts my left foot.

Ehhh on the freeway, especially at night, windows up in the convertible makes some sense. You can hear your music, your passenger, etc.

They confirmed they’re not bringing the new Fiesta to the states long enough for me to buy a mid-2000s turbo manual Volvo wagon instead, spend way too much money fixing it, sell it for a fraction of what I paid for it, and lease a 2018 GTI. That news is now 2 cars old for me. Time to move out of denial.

The issue is in the way the car delivers the power and the way the motor is designed. With 200 HP built to do the same thing as the Miata it should be faster than it is, but it isn’t.

My point is that the Miata has 50 less horsepower and gives the same or marginally better performance. So maybe the guys complaining about power have a point.

Your S2000 was $4000? That’s a great deal!

I’ve only driven the AP2, but yeah, the car felt very refined to me compared to the Miata.
