If they ran this event as they ran all the ones before, and those had an acceptable level of fatalities, again it’s stupid IMO to assume negligence. Maybe something changed this year that made things more dangerous, but unless you have intimate knowledge of how this race has been managed it’s stupid and self serving

Bro rally racing is dangerous

Jalop staff loves the political angle EVs allow them to push

I think the why is much simpler- it’s not something they can fix with a software update. The only way around it is hardware (seat sensor and/or a camera). Maybe they will fix it with Autopilot 2.0. The main thing though is Tesla has to be banned from calling this feature Autopilot.

Unless your Hyundai’s cruise control can steer, you wouldn’t get very far with this plan

I think they did improve NVH with the facelift. I’m seriously considering getting some Dynamat and having some of the glass laminated. The only thing I don’t think I can fix is the boominess of that huge rear torsion beam suspension. But I’ll take what I can get.

Toyota hybrid systems are reliable too though. They were pretty much the first and have been rock solid the whole time. Plus buying and keeping a car for 270K miles is not typical. I understand that matters to you but it def doesn’t to most people.

I have a ‘15 Limited which is in the supposedly best gen (since the 8AT programming neutered the V6). I don’t think it’s that big of a drop off. For starters if we look a little further down the bench racing sheet we see this is not much slower than the V6 versions. I don’t know about the 3rd gens but mine is loud. It

I said elsewhere- when the numbers are all that’s left, we’ll realize how little they matter. But you can’t stop “progress”............

We’re finally seeing electrification truly democratize performance, such that modestly-priced, family-hauling Kias and Fords are going to be pulling off these feats, too.

Effectively “MSRP” on a Tesla is just whatever a hypothetical dealer would get charged to buy a Tesla (and then markup for a profit).

So “anyone that believe direct sales of car would only be at MSRP is a moron”, but the only direct sales operation currently running only sells at MSRP, and “thank god for that”

It’s worth repeating- anyone who thinks a factory direct only sales model will save us money is either stupid or crazy. Where’s the “haggle” button on the Tesla website? How often does Tesla run sales?

How do you figure? Where’s the “haggle” button on Tesla’s site?

The funny thing about people hating on the age of the FM platform is the whole industry has moved to that model. Nissan was ahead of their time, for good reason. Why make an entirely new platform every model change if you can make one that you can continually improve forever?

This isn’t just like 20 years ago though. New engine, new design. Plus all the big hitters have moved to “forever” platforms. BMW is never going to replace CLAR. VWAG are never going to replace MQB/MLB/whatever. At least not until they move to EVs. So it’s stupid to hate on Nissan for rolling with a forever platform-

Just for the DSG? Unless the DSG in the old S4 is wildly different than the one in the GTI/R, I didn’t really see a huge difference between it and the ZF8. The ZF8 is as good as any DCT I’ve driven, maybe even including the 458 Italia.

EV charging is a revenue godsend for not much investment.... utilities will be more than happy to accommodate that demand

What exactly is your objective? More road safety + better drivers, or essentially banning driving for the bulk of the population through an expensive and byzantine licensing process? Why do people need extensive classroom training to not text/drink/speed/tailgate/be distracted while driving, and how effective will

What’s wrong with the easiest route? It’s cheap and effective. Again we already know the main culprits for danger on the roads- phones, alcohol/drugs, bad driving habits (speeding, tailgating, bad lane discipline etc). Everyone already knows these things are bad... we don’t need to teach them that, or advanced driving
