But that has been true since the dawn of history, and the trend in rapes is going down. So it’s silly to ignore any spike in rape or sexual assault just because “it’s men duhhh” because you are ignoring an anomaly that could be prevented in the future.

So there can be no analysis of a spike in rape or sexual assault while the broader year over year trend continues to go down? We should just ignore that because obviously it’s just rape culture?

It is also important to point out that year over year all those stats are improving significantly and have been for decades. So while broadly it is a an issue specific to men, you can’t simply blame a spike in rapes or assaults on “men” since otherwise those prevailing trends would not exist.
