As a native New Yorker there are plenty of things I don't gripe about, but you are correct that we have an awesome (albeit loud and dirty) public transportation system.

Not sure what you mean. Most of these are full blown apps that have a pop-up asking if you want to add your purchased ticket to Passbook. No hunting for a link or anything like that.

I have never had a problem scanning Passbook, even at Starbucks with their shitty scanners.

It updates you on new flight information, it pops up automatically at the airport, it doesn't rely on shitty email formatting, etc.

If we didn't do this, we wouldn't learn how to make it perfectly photorealistic.

While it is levitating above the rail, that doesn't mean it can easily detach. It likely has sections that wrap around and under the rail as well (think of rollercoaster wheels how they go on both sides of the rail) to prevent the train from flying off. However those sections still don't touch the rail at any point.

This is hilarious.

Which applies to Apple Maps on iOS as well. I use it all the time and it works fine. It's 3D turn-by-turn is much better than any of the above too.

Even though it is a tad expensive, I found iTrans to be the best of the bunch. It even has the layout of the subway stops and all their exits when you zoom in far enough which Google Maps never had.

Except that the vast majority of the time you aren't peaking around the corner of your iMac. From where I sit I never look at my iMac at an angle where I would be able to notice how fat it was.

Actually I would argue OSX is better from an objective user experience stand point (provides the best experience for the greatest number of users). Furthermore it is better from my personal standpoint due to its built in window management tools.

This is where you would be wrong.

This still makes no sense.

During hurricane Sandy Apple Maps kept me better up to date since it refers public transportation requests to a 3rd party app which was much better at keeping up to date on outages than Google Maps ever was.

Google would not allow Apple access to vector tiles, turn-by-turn, etc, no matter how much Apple would pay.

Honestly, I have found the plug to be one of the nicer changes.

Oh FFS, I use a Magic Trackpad on my iMac too.

Haha, right I want to spend that much time tracking down drivers, tweaking things, and worrying when an OS update comes along.

Really? Show me a third party trackpad as good as the one in a Macbook Pro.

Where else are they supposed to fire rockets from? The moon? A wide open field?
