You are talking about two separate things here.

Actually I have transferred a lot onto and off my phone, and it really isn't so bad.

First off I think the smugness is perceived by those who perceive Apple that way, I don't think it's inherent in the creation of their marketing. I mean hell, BMW calls their cars "The Ultimate Driving Machine", it really isn't all that different.

How do my comments conflict?

They do what they are capable of doing with the networks as they currently stand.

You mean they have the microSD card that came with their phone and is used for standard storage. Doesn't mean they ever have a reason to remove it.

Why do you need an SD card to do data transfers? Just do it wirelessly.

And the reason this stuff is ignored in the Fandroid/Fapple wars is that tech-savvy people who use Android don't mind browsing through community forums, and rooting, and tweaking, in fact many of them love it.

It doesn't have to do with the number of devices. There are way more Android phones than iPhones out there, but iPhone users still reward developers much more than Android users. Piracy is much harder on the iPhone, and iPhone paid apps tend to be of much higher quality thanks to great visual design.

It has to do with both. The fragmentation makes development really annoying for more complex apps, and I hear this from just about every app developer I've talked to.

They don't have to if they make plenty of money off of iOS users. The problem a lot of developers have with making things for Android isn't just the difficult development environment, it's that they don't make nearly as much money off of Android users.

I bet Apple would be fine with sharing the standard/licensing if the others accepted their design. I don't think this is just about another small way to make money for Apple, I think it's about controlling how networks relate to the phone.

When their marketing works for the vast majority of consumers, both tech-savvy and not, who is to blame them? But I would hardly call it them wanting you to be stupid.

I don't think I have seen anyone use a USB or SD card port on their phone ever (except to charge it).

You can't seriously think that Apple is designing a new SIM just to deal with jailbreakers.

I live in NYC so I don't need car integration, but trust me I get out a bunch. MOG is just not big in this city at all (or amongst anyone I know online).

You can turn off sharing what you are listening to in both Rdio and Spotify.

Noticeably bad is debatable. As far as I can tell it is no worse than 256kbps which very few people have the equipment or attention to notice as being any worse than the 320kbps found on MOG.

You really don't get their motivation do you?

More useful? So you can stream music to your game console from any room in your house? You can find a funny website and toss it up on the screen to show your friends?
