I don't disagree with your premise but saying refs are graded doesn't mean much. Every sport claims to grade refs/umpires and the shittiest ones still end up working important games. College basketball has the biggest home/road officiating disparity of any sport. The refs are absolutely influenced by the crowd.

Mizzou's QB and entire offensive line suffered major injuries last year. Their first string can play with anybody but they don't have the depth behind it that the top programs have, so it was pretty ugly. This year hasn't been a huge surprise since they've stayed healthy.
