This is a gopro which has wide angle lenses meaning distances are exagerated, what looks like a gradual curve is more likely a 45 degree bend. Plus the Miata crossed a double yellow twice for both passes, that is definitely illegal.

Fair but the diesel would still need to shift gears while the electric doesn’t. Assuming both are equal power and torque and both are outputting torque through the transmission as efficiently as they could, the electric still would be faster since it doesn’t need to shift.

I see your point and I can agree with that but I still maintain 0-20 will be faster in an electric due to the instantaneous torque.

The R33 is my favorite, especially the NISMO 400R version.

Most electric motors use gearboxes as well, granted with only two or three speeds. I’m sure that if this eventually goes into production they’ll probably be using their own gearboxes to stay efficient.

This test was only to show performance.

No where in this test did it claim that either.

The relevance to real world use is that in traffic you aren’t going to be stuck behind “slow” trucks anymore.

Two semis pulling equal weight. One is fuel cell powered one is diesel. The fuel cell one will be faster. As long as the weight is the same for both trucks, it doesn’t matter how much weight there is.

Will how else do you think they get their emotional range?

Yeah 240 mi unloaded is atrocious, but this test was more to demonstrate performance.

The hydrogen truck will still be faster even when loaded down.
