Commonality is great in terms of simplifying maintenance and logistics, but by concentrating capabilities in fewer and fewer platforms, you lose the “hybrid vigor” naval aviation used to have. Not every job requires a Hornet/Super Hornet, and the F-35 is turning out to be a solid-gold hammer when we could really use a

...the lack of VIN numbers means you won’t be able to rock a Kammback on public roads.

You didn’t mention that they actually did successful ground tests of the nuclear ramjet engine. That might be the most fascinating part - miles and miles of oil well casing pipe to store compressed air, and an enormous furnace to heat it, to simulate the pressure and temperature of inlet air during low level

You have NO idea. It was a rare treat as a kid to visit there with the folks - Back in the day before there were convenience stores on every corner and grocery stores stayed open late, it was the go-to source for cigarettes or milk in a pinch.

Hell, we have one in San Diego.

You keep trying to apply a standard of reasonableness and proportionality to this. There wasn’t one. He was probably just a guy who had one too many setbacks, and the hotel staff were unlucky enough to trigger the dam break.

Never said otherwise. But in his mind, the people getting hurt deserved it.

Most definitely not a “dazzle” paint job. Here’s a real example:

Except it’s not fifteen minutes on the phone - it’s another set of idiots reading from a script telling you they can’t help you, wasting your time and making you feel small, just like the idiots behind the desk who said the charge didn’t go through when it did. It’s one frustrating set of unhelpful assholes after

It’s for “filth” that will “accumulate” when you “drive.”

I hope they’ve ground some advance into the cams for those back cylinders...

I like to think I am too smart for a life of crime. :-P Just saying that if I was going to do it, I’d try to be efficient about it.

Step 1: Order lawn rake from Amazon

This is going to suck in ways we can hardly imagine.

They spent 5 hours there. They wanted the wheels with the most resale value, ergo the ones with wheel locks. They knew that every truck had the wheel key in the glovebox, so they broke out the passenger windows to get it. Ten seconds tops. Probably had one guy going down the rows of trucks, looking at the wheels and

“Oh yeah, they’re going to have an Osprey,” the NYPD K-9 unit policeman told me when I arrived at the Lower Manhattan Heliport at 4:30 AM. “Those things haven’t been too reliable. A lot of crashes lately. Good luck.”

It’s actually walking distance (done it before, in fact). But riding a bicycle on the roads between home and work would be a suicide mission. Also, 100 degrees F in the summer, and low 40’s in the winter. So no bicycle.

THAT CAN CARRY A MCLAREN! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH! MUST HAVE!

Why bust all the passenger windows then?

I have a 3.6 mile commute to work. I could drive this back and forth every day, 86 times, before I had to fill it up again. That’s like four months. I want one!
