I think Tolle’s in a different category, too. He doesn’t try to spin a new self-help or health trend every week. What I’ve seen and read from him seems like he’s just explaining his philosophy. Things like being present and not clinging to desired outcomes aren’t even original but I like the way he presents his topics.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Tolle to Oz, Phil and Byrne. He’s relatively low-profile and not money/fame hungry or actively destructive to the people who seek him out for help.

I’m sure he remembers them from his childhood - Mr. Butler, Mr. Footman, Mr. Driver, Mr. Cook, and of course Mr. T.

I’m way more upset about the fact that we kill stray dogs, tbh. Innocent animals are killed every day. I’m not going to shed a damn tear for Dylan Roof.

I consider myself “pro death,” honestly. In the same way that I consider “pro life” people to be hypocrites, I expect moral consistency from myself. I believe that some lives or forms of life are expendable and their death serves our society. Fetus < adult human women, for example. I believe people suffering from

If there was even a shadow of a doubt I would agree. But this guy did it, admitted it, shows no remorse for the taking of innocent lives and deserves his fate. And we should not be spending a single penny more than the bullet it would take to do the job.

We shouldn’t kill other humans.

Clearly we will have to agree to disagree, but to me there is no reason to force anyone to interact with this person, or to feed or care for him, or give him any rights. I believe that people forfeit their rights when they commit such a heinous act.

I totally hear you, and in the vast majority of cases I agree completely. But I also think that there are some crimes that, when proven beyond even a shadow of a doubt to have been committed by someone with not even the slightest inclination toward remorse, are egregious enough that death is the only just penalty. The

The Death Penalty is not about being eye for an eye. It’s “we shouldn’t have to deal with this dreg anymore.” It’s ethical to take out the trash from your home and burn it: the Death Penalty is the criminal justice version of the same.

No justice system can be applied equally in all cases. None has before and none will. People aren’t machines that can make perfect decisions and actions.

I respectfully disagree. Dylann Roof is an unrepentant murderer who feels no remorse for his crimes. Death is the greatest punishment he can face. It’s what he deserves.

No, he should die. As Clint Eastwood said, “It’s a hell of a thing, killin’ a man. You take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.”

so the movies just shouldnt get made?? even if the production company has proved multiple times to do good work?

brad pitt’s production company actually is responsible for 12 years a slave, selma and moonlight so i’m not sure what the problem would be....

Hey! Guess what! When I was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t find the strength to bring it up first, I was PRAYING for someone to notice and ask me if I was ok. It’s almost like people have different personalities and situations and needs and you’re not the only special snowflake who’s been through shit.

I needed to hear encouragement to leave my abuser hundreds of times, and honestly, it was the comments that came from people I didn’t know well that hit home the hardest. (I didn’t really have to fess anything; I wasn’t going to wear a bag over my head.) My family and friends? They’re obviously going to tell me to

So many people against training others to spot the signs of domestic abuse jumps out at me like a giant red flag. Nothing is mandatory for crying out loud.

I, too, am confused with all the venom being spat at this law. What the hell?

Doesn’t that say more about the police than it does about the barbers, though? Its not that barbers need less training, police just need more. I sure as hell want the person cutting my hair to have spent 1500 hours learning to not make me look any worse than I already do.
