to be fair, that was pretty obscure.
His point was that watching the game on TV isn't what people mean when the say "saw it live in PHX". Even if you were at a viewing party at the Mercury's court.
Wow, man. I never did use we when talking about the US, and at no point did you actually respond to anything I said. Great discussion, this has been really fun.
How does "we" imply ownership? "We" just refers to a group that everyone is a part of. In the context of a sports team, why is it so difficult to understand "we" to mean "everyone who supports this particular team, be they fans, players, or business people". I'm not sure what you being a history major has to do with…
The Bears isn't a collective pronoun, so I guess your point is that you don't ever feel like a using a shorter word to refer to the team when talking with your friends. That's fine, but can you understand that some people do, and "we" makes by far the most sense?
Is it, though? What collective pronoun do you use to refer to the team you support? I use we even though it's clear that I'm in no way a member of the organization, and this is coming from a "part-owner" Packer fan.
Yeah, these people really don't seem to understand the need to differentiate between "we" (our team) and "they" (other teams) when having casual sports talk.
They are, and it is. I lived in Denver for a year and was 100% blown away by how incredibly bad the driving is. As others have said, it is objectively the worst in the country.
That's not much of a counter-point.
No dude, he was trolling, and he was not making the point that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.
Agreed, those two stories made my day.
Seriously. Was this list compiled by a two year old? Pineapples are way too sweet, give me the subtle, sultry flavor of a raspberry any day.
Did I miss something here?
Sure, but he already acknowledged his responsibility, so also not really.
"Any time you point at someone you've got 3 fingers pointing back at yourself."
Yeah, I guess I don't really understand why someone shouldn't go to jail for doing 93 in a 55. Mortally endangering others should be a jailable offense.
"I just wanted people to say "Wow, she is a pretty damn good referee.""
You must not have seen a ton of movies this decade. And I really don't mean that as an insult to you or Miss. Johansson.
