The HDMI-in feature is unusual for a console, and it could lead to some interesting possibilities: since you can plug a cable box or even other consoles (like, say, the PS4) into your Xbox One, you can hypothetically play around with the multitasking Snap feature in all sorts of ways. Should be interesting to see what

It includes a 1080p, HD camera that captures video at 30 frames per second. All new, active-infrared capabilities increase precision, allowing it to work in nearly any lighting condition and expanding field of view to accommodate a greater variety of room sizes. Microsoft proprietary Time-of-Flight technology measures

Dude can you stop? Wii U "isn't improved over current consoles" is just so incredibly false. Nintendo as a company and influence is good for the video game industry. The asymmetric gameplay they were going after with the Wii U has already sparked a lot of creativity in other games too. Look at "The Division" or

Isn't every gaming product by any manufacturer getting beaten by iOS at least in terms of unit sales?

There must be a sleep button or something that would do the same thing... at least i hope, that is a great point.

Because clearly what is best for the gaming industry is having the three of the exact same system to buy?

I played pikmin 2 for wii and you can hold down on the d pad and the pikmin would line up along your cursor so it would do about the same thing. It felt a little less precise though than the c stick but it does work...works really well if you just need to throw a bunch of pikmin at an object or bridge etc

Sorry mate, you've got a way too simplified view to really understand how the system is put together let alone how powerful it is. First off "The power of a console is not measured by it's GPU but it's CPU, as that is the most important component" I'd like to point out for instance that the PS4 and XBone use the

I think you've got it all wrong. I've heard people make your argument a lot but it don't really get it. Of all companies I think Nintendo makes the freshest, most innovative and different games, even if its frustrating to the fans and consumers. They are just relentless with being innovative and different.

Its not true. I've been participating in the wii u GPU die analysis from chipworks over at neogaf. The wii U is quite powerful, more powerful than either the PS/360. Its a different beast than other systems since its very custom, but also very interesting to see what they have done to achieve high efficiencies and

I replied to "Johnny Neat" in this thread but would have liked to tag the reply to you as well. As someone that has analyzed the chipworks die shot of the Wii U GPU its silly to say that its not next gen and silly to say its from 2006. Its just blatantly false and inaccurate. I explained more in my reply if you are

I've been participating on neogaf analyzing the chipworks die shot of the Wii U GPU. The system is quite "next gen" for many reasons. Is it as powerful as the XBone or PS4? Absolutely not. But the gap in power is not nearly as large as it was between PS/360 and Wii.

Edit: that's not to say i'm not excited for new IP, I obviously am! Miyamoto is like the living legend of video game designers. In my opinion many of his games are easily worth twice what they actually cost. I read Game Feel (great book if you like video games) and its amazing to see design elements quantified in

I don't really understand your rationale. For me some of the most fresh and creative ideas of the past few generations of video games have come from "mario" games. Often the games are completely new just happen to have the mario character. For example I would group:

Thanks for the clarification! I wanted to ask since you or someone on here seem like they might know. It is such a waste the way regenerative braking aims to charge the batteries! I hope that has always been just marketing speak because you have to wait for the chemistry of a battery to work where the impulse of

You know its amazing to me. My mom bought that Honda Insight in the year 2000. She was on a real eco kick (still is) But at 65-70 mpg, we all thought in the future I bet these numbers will look laughable. I mean we were going to hit 2010 which sounds so futuristic i'll probably commute via hover skateboard. When

Hey i posted this in the comments on another article but i found this chart really handy and interesting! Its all the games at E3 and the platforms for them.

Its just so strange that of all companies that try to do that, Sony is the first that comes to your mind. I was trying to take the objective measure of "creative" or "fresh" out of it and say even if they are offering those qualities in games, people aren't really buying them. To an extent a company can try to

Thanks, and to your point i'm curious to see how things are going to shake out for the non AAA titles. Looking at Nintendo's strategy I think they assumed that the spec junkies and FPS gamers would jump on PS4/XBone, and they could attract smaller studios and indies that can't compete on that scale, budget, graphics,
